Question about racing at a NOPI event....
Was looking into running bracket class at Atco the end of this month. Started looking into some info on their site and figured i would ask some people that go to this event. The car is nothing special (04 sti) and I am not planning on winning anything. I just keep thinking that every event i go to watch that i wish i could run my car, which i could. After reading about it, it seams that they don't race brackets on sat, only practice? And bracket racing is on sunday (the day i would rather watch). Also do you have to be a member of NDRA to race brackets? I want to go and watch but also would like to run while I am there. What are requirements to race just these two days or even the open class practice thing on sat only?
I'm not really looking to spend $90 to race a bracket class that i won't win anyway if they only race it one day. Anyone with better info then the nopi site please chime in. Never raced at one of these events and just want to know what i'm getting into money wise and how much racing you actually get to do.

From What i know....
Qaulifying Takes place on Saturday only. Sunday they Start Eliminations.
Dont Know if you can race only sunday, they might have another round of qualifying on sunday morning. Generally You need to make passes on saturday to Qualify for sundays events, not sure if Thats the way it is for Brackets, but most of the other classes work this way.
Both days you will have plenty of open Session Test N tune Runs as well.
You need to be a member to collect any money if you win.

I wasn't aware of that. I thought if you're not there on Sat. you only get 1 qual. run.

Also, If you won I thought they just deducted the member fees from your winnings?

The other car isn't done yet to run in any real class, but i enjoy coming to these events, i just think it would be that much better if i got to run car while i was there.
Any info on this keep it coming. I might just do the time trial thing, seams like too much hassle to race when i won't win anything anyway. Just want to have fun.

Saturday and only saturday(unless it rains) is pro class qualifying.Only 3 passes to qualify.
Now if you are running bracket. you can run on sunday.and they also have fun runs were you pay a certain amount and you get to run the car as often as you want.

I went to Nopi's site and it does say in order to win money you must be a Member. I'll be sending in the App. ASAP!
I'm looking forward to Atco.

Open session sound like the best bet for me. Cheaper and don't have to join anything. Like I said i'm not looking to win anything so why pay the extra money if i get to run a good bit in the open session thing.
Thanks for the info

Last year they had the make up of Maple grove race on saturday for brackets and pros. Unless they changed it you do not have to pay to be a NDRA member unless you win. Last year I won the bracket class so I had to pay 25 bucks I think it was to get my money for winning. I am not sure if they changed it this year but I doubt you have to pay to be a member to bracket race. I would come out and race and have fun.
Also where in PA are you from? I am heading down with a bunch of people early saturday. let me know.

yea, i'll e-mail you.
I'm from Altoona, which is 2hrs west of Harrisburg. We will be leaving sat early as well. Were actually going to be at a track near pittsburgh friday night for a local sport compact event. Probably won't sleep much friday, or saturday, but oh well it will be fun. I'm definatly going, just have to make up mind if racing or just going to run for fun.
