Default 94 LX Accord overheating

Hello, I am having a problem with my Accord overheating. First, here's some quick information:

1994 Accord LX
About 136k miles
Radiator replaced about a year ago

The temperature gauge seems to jump to about 40% almost immediately after starting the car. Then it gradually edges upward as I drive it. When i speed up, it goes down, but when I stop, it goes up (it goes up a little bit faster when i have stopped than it goes down when I am driving, so eventually I have to take a break and let it cool off). It even happens at night when it is relatively cool outside. I can actually feel the heat coming off of it when I am driving, so it leads me to believe that its probably not a faulty temperature gauge, but who knows. A friend of mine, with a 96 Accord, is having the exact same problem (he also has a realtively new radiator). We are stumped as to how to fix it.

Can anyone help? Thanks in advance.

check your thermostat and water pump if they are working fine, I would flush the system. If they are not, replace them and then flush the system. When you refil do it with the car on level gound and use the bleeder screw above tstat housing to remove excess air from system
