Default 2002 Civic LX exhuast question

So my friend got an exhuast for her '02 LX 2 door...problem is, it is a bit short of the cat. Her friend is saything the only way to fix the problem now is to get an exhuast and header as well, is this true?

Would a test pipe fix the problem, or possibly a custom-made pipe to fit on? Any help is appreciated.

LX has cat on header? LX or EX?
If your talking axelback, could just be the wrong one!

all axel backs fit on any 2001-2005 civic. regardless of model.

however, if its a exhaust catback system, then the EX is different than thelx/dx/etc.
ive also heard of coupes and sedans having minor differences as well.. such as whether the muffler sticks out more..but its rare to happen

Its a cat back system, but the pipes dont reach all the way to the cat/downpipe. Could a piece of piping fix the problem?

Yup, you can "modify" it!

dx and lx civics have close coupled catalytic converters directly after the header. i do not know if the hx and ex models have it since they have the 10 higher horse power engines and vtec e. but if they are different expect different axleback settups. i have actually looked into the exhaust systems for these cars and they do segregate the dx and lx models from the vtec models of these civics. try going to a website and checking this out for yourself.

Just go to a muffler shop and let them either lengthen your exhaust or add in another piece in the missing area.
