Transmission - Please advise?
I have a 1996 Honda Accord VTEC 4Cylinder A/T Sedan with 97000 miles. The check engine light is ON. I took my car to a mechanic and he hooked my car up to his computer. The error code that he received is T/C clutch system failure. Can anyone explain what this means? Also, while driving my car, I noticed that my car take a very long time to shift into second and third gears. The RPM revs very high(about 3500) but after a couple seconds, its shifts. Can anyone please advise on what to do.
Most likely your lockup sylanoid has failed. They are easy to replace as they are on the top of the tansmission housing.

item #7 is what you want to take a look at.
I would change the fluid or better yet flush the tranny before making any repairs. 5th gen cars do like to shift at higher than usual rpms and it has been noted in many a review.

I actually have a 1999 Accord and it seems we have the same problem. When I am driving normal there is somewhat of a delay in shifts. When I accelerate fast the car shifts better but still isn't like it was when i bought the car. Its my first automatic and I dont think i'll ever buy an automatic ever again!!!!!!
