Only 5th Gen Speed V6 Accord In Canada
purchased a 1987 Acura Legend LS Coupe feb 17th
towed to my mechanic same day
mechanic needed to finish off the other jobs he had so the work did not start till march 2nd.
First thing he did is pull out the Legend's axels, tranny, flywheel, pressure plate, clutch, bearing and examined them. The pressure plate needed a cleanup and sanding and the flywheel was in toch notch shape as well, the clutch was finished ... the bearing was still top notch. The axles are mint as well, I went out and purchased a OEM spec Clutch.
He worked on the accord, removed my automatic tranny, axles, suspension forks, bearings ... pulled it all out, did not open the tranny - even up to now ( not really worth it because I'm selling it damaged to buyer - it's up to them to find what the issue is )
he examined the documentation from OMEGA'S SWAP ( which is like a bible for this swap ) and decided to start the work, after some hard convincing. Not too many people are willing to perform this kinda work, without charging like 6000$$ +
I picked up the 94-97 pedals, clutch master, master cylinder with metal tube and hosing ( two parts - one steel - 97-97 4 cylinder, and the other rubber - 90-93 accord rubber tube used, if 94-97 part could not be found - most people cut them from swaps instead of disassembling them ) and shifter boot at a local scrapper all in the mintest shape I could. The parts were all cleaned up and installed.
The tranny, flywheel and pressure plate were all cleaned up and sanded where needed and the attempts to mount it started. it does not fit, modifications are needed - he took the 5 speed tranny and a cardboard box, ripped off the side of the box and pressed it on the automatic on one side, then did the same on the other side of the cardboard for the automatic - 4 out of the 6 bolts mated up perfectly - keep reading ( OMEGA'S stated the stationary axel holes for the intermiate shafts are blocked - chunk of the block needed to be grinded out - approx 4 inches in by 3 inches - you grind out a bolt in the process but a magic bolt appears behind the grinded area )
the tranny, flywheel, pressure plate and clutch fit perfectly after the grind. What a site, The whole drivers side, looking up from having her on a lift almost looked like someone stole the tranny, there is SO MUCH ROOM. Anyways, next was the mounts, this was the hardest part for my shop, since they did not have the right hardcore tools to make they're own mounts, they had to deal with what they had, and all mounts are 100% stable ( 4 were made ) , except for one - the front - which I am getting custom made with 3/4 " metal and two 16mm bolts shaped like an L
then the shifter rods were next, cutting into the floorboards, cutting through the 2 layers of metal, percise cutting is not easy, however I brought it to the best in mtl. the rods are too long from the Legend I have, it's a coupe, I guess it's a bit futher back. All the rods were placed in a almost stock configuration, but the height was an issue as well. A lot of time went into this as well, placing the rods is the most time consuming After about 3 days of working on the rods and shafts it was done, the shifter boot was in the the Acura Teg Shifter boot was slide on and I got my first chance in the industrial park to test her out ... OMG I needed 5 speed lessons, all over again ( I've only driven 5 speed for like 3 weeks in my life )
After a detailed crash course and stalling about 20 times in 4 hours I got the hand of her and started to push a little more and guys ALL I HAVE TO SAY IS WOW !!!! It honestly feels like the car has easily 25% if not more like 30% more power and the throttle is so much more responsive. I'm having to work more with my shifting, but I honestly state that I will be an easy 1.5 second faster on the 1/4 - 16.4 was my best time with burnt out tires and full weight ( going to the track once the tracks are cleaned and preped to have runs ) I'm aiming for high 14's
( I typed this up a while ago, still have not gone to the track, no time this summer yet, but I will go for slips )
I've recently installed camber kits for the front to fix the drop since it was stupid low and I destroys a set of tires in 4 months
upgraded bushings for swap bars - installed misc items ....

High 14's?
Isnt that kinda pushing it? I mean if you expect that then is the 87 Legend running like high 14's stock as well since it came outta the Legend? Im not too familiar with the hp difference between the 87' C27 and your C27 though so I could be wrong.

I was @ 16.4 with the automatic and horrible launches
I saved myself a lot of weight
with my CF hood I will be saving another 60 lbs
weight is everything in a FWD car ...
right now, I'm able to pull away from Mazda 6 V6 on the highway
I'm able to pull away from Grand Air Ram Air models, I just dusted one this morning
14's are possible trust me
I am getting custom made cams that will have the output of 25-40hp depending on the layout, that is my next year project, the engine
and paint
this summer was the tranny
I paid 2000$ CDN for the swap in total
700 for the legend .. the whole car ( I recently sold the engine for 250$ cdn ) 700$ for labour, and the rest for misc parts and tip for my mechanic
