Low idle after valve adjustment
I just did a valve adjustment on my 92 gs-r on saturday. the car has 159k miles and it was noisy so i adjusted the valves. The car is definatley quiter and seems to perform better, but the idle is noticibly lower than before. i was idling steady at like 750-800 before, now it's down to 550-600 and it fluctuates a little bit. The gaps i used were .006" for exhaust and .004" for the intake; the engine is a b17 with v-tec. does anyone know how i could get the idle back up to 750??
i'm thinking i did the gaps too small and the valves are closing too early. does anyone know the correct gaps for a b17? i think the exhaust are fine at .006 but not the intake at .004.
well the c1's are around .006 for intake and .007 for exhaust. but dont get me lying to you about your b17
check your timing, reset your idle with the IAC, etc...

You set both too tight, the intake should be .006 to .007 and the exhaust side should be .007 to .008 for the b17. You should go on the tight side with a car with high mileage, but not tighter than spec.
