Ok so i found this guy that has a H23 vtec blue top accord type r engine. The only problem is that the harness was cut at the fire wall and it doesn't include an ecu. Also it has an automatic trany.
Now could i switch the automatic trany out with a manual and then get an aftermarket ecu, such as AEM's EMS. Would that work cause if it would this would be an awesome engine i think.
The other problem comes with the Engine harness but im sure i could use one from another similar engine, or just do it all by hand and probably **** up and consume so much time that it might not be worth it. Any feedback would be much apreciated and no flaming please cause i know i don't know alot about this stuff. oh and the guy wants $2900 for it. thanks.

yes you can mount a manual tranny on. you just reuse the manual tranny bolts(auto tranny bolts are too short). yes you can use an aftermarket fuel management system. which car is this going into? 4th gen prelude SI? just reuse the stock wiring harness and add the wires you need, ie. VTEC selenoid, VTEC oil pressure, etc....
buy it!!!! i love mine. just bump up the compression with some flat valves. i've got mine hooked up to an SiR/s-spec transmission; it fits fine. and just use any H22 ECU. but wire accordingly: OBD-I vs. OBD-II.
the h23vtec that is that blue top, the electrical components are the same as any h22. its 98 ish so its OBDII so just make sure you take that into consideration. other than that, have fun and you dont have to worry about spinning bearing with high revvs like the hybrid. bigger mains.
