Wheel will not spin when Axle / Spindle nut is on too tight.
Hi everyone,
I'm having this unusual problem with my hatch after I attempt to tighten the spindle nut.
Actually, it started off with a noise from the driver side.
So while, I jacked up my car to find out the root of the noise. I thought the dust sheild was rubbing against something. It was then, I notice my driver sider wheel would not turn in neutral or during first gear. I decide to loosen the spindle nut, and everything started working fine. No noise or and the driver side wheel was moving. Perfect. Of course, it was until after 3 hours of troubleshooting. Strange thing is I didn't have to try that hard to loosen the spindle nut - probably about 65 lbs of torq.
Then I realized the noise was probably my LSD kicking in on the driver side. Of course, two things are worring me now, did I mess my LSD while drive it around? and also now when I try to tighten the spindle nut, the wheel will not move freely and the noise resume. Is the wheel bearing out? Any input would be great!!! Thanks.

i had almost the same problem...but my wheel would spin in the air. im currently replacing the wheel bearing.
what axle are you using? motor?
Try prying off the knuckle ring and the ring on the axle. I had this exact problem when changing an axle on a Civic w/ B16a swap yesterday. The wheel wouldn't spin when I tightened the axle nut. Took the 2 washers off and it was fine.

Does anyone have a picture of what part to pull off on the axle? I hear everyone mention something on the axle side but I can't seem to find what part to pull off? Which washer?
Strange thing is, I've been running with this set up for the past 8 months. Thanks
