So I am just about to get a bonus from my job at the end of the year, and I am looking to either buy a new Final Drive, JDM or ATS, or a set of 50mm ITBs from TWM. I have done searches on both, Have tons of information on both. I am really just stuck on which on to pick, I know I will eventually have both, but only can afford 1 at this time. Id like people's opinions on which mod they would do first, ITBs or FD.
Here is the set up: My Honda, made 205 whp with 145 ft/lbs.

I would get the final drive. After you instal it, there is not much else to do but drive. With the ITB's you have to tune them. If you want a nice hassle free mod after install, I would get the final drive.
your motor is making 205 whp, that's GREAT so why not upgrade your tranny?
Your tranny is just as if not more important when driving. w/ the ats final you'll no longer fall out of v-tec. and your acceleration is gonna be a night and day difference.

I would get the JDM final drive. With the ITB's you definitely have to get them tuned which would be an additional cost. However, they are both good upgrades for your motor. Good luck

Yea, I really want to get the ITBs because that would be more expensive, and just to get that out of the way. I am shooting for 220whp and in the mid 150s for ft/lbs. Add a gear to that, and I have a nice little street car.
how is this an either/ or situation?
itb's are MUCH more expensive usually - and if they're not, then get them first because that's a hell of a deal! OR get them first because they cost more - and you can get that part the buildup out of the way. Final drive's are often easier to come up on as far as a better deal goes..... and are more of a "wear" item...
+1 for itb's.
And you can sell your old IM and throttle body for $ towards the final drive.

Good response, that makes a whole lot of sense

Don't flame me too hard on this one.
Unquestionably, the FD will rock. You need to do this. Do it. Do it. Do it.
IMHO, TWMs are overpriced. I'm currently tuning a 85x89 dart block build for a friend w/ 50mm bodies. I was not impressed with the build quality. Lot of rough edges for a part that costs as much as it does. I've not seen Jenveys or other commercial bodies "in the flesh" so I'm not going to pass judgement on them.
I looked at your page. It seemed you're still running stock bore, but with higher compression. I'm probably going to get run over on the bandwagon by this one, but **** it I speak my mind. You don't need 50 or even 55mm ITBs for the displacement you have, unless your head is massively professionally ported too. I'd pick up a set of 48mm Hayabusa bodies, a junk IM, port the **** out of the IM, weld, fab and make yourself a set of budget bodies. You'd have enough money leftover compared to a set of TWMs to be able to afford to get them tuned.
It's more work, it's more hassle, it's more reward.
CromePro and ITB Tools+ is a joy to tune bodies with. You're going to get a lot of speeding tickets with an ITB daily driver, as the ******* take the **** off, even barely cracking throttle.
Good luck.

Thanks for your input, I want to make the car more fun to drive, the gear or the ITB's. I have a great tuner, so I know we will be able to make the power. But will the gear make the ride more fun, or some ITBs. This car will not be tracked or anything, Just sits at home until Saturday nights, and then I let her come out and play.
Without a doubt--at this time the final drive (if your motor can take advantage of it) the final drive mod WILL make your car quicker than adding ITBs--you should def. research the pros and cons of ITBs before just throwing a set on anyway---Jay.
Yes down side to itb's is the tune but the throttle response is un beliveble. I have never hade a problem when I use a hondata s200. if you need more info on itb's give me a call and I'll answer any questions. (626)332-8565 ask for Mike im there from 11am-7pm CA time. I'll give you the best price I can on twm's and I have all the new castings in stock. your choice to carbon hornes polished hornes or flat aluminum hornes there all the same price. good luck
