so im driving down the highway last week and all the sudden my tranny keeps spittin 5th back out. some days it will do it more than others. bad synchro???? i think i also have a small tranny fluid leak so would lack of tranny oil spit out 5th??

 

from what i've been reading up on honda-tech, you might need to refill your tranny fluid cause theres probably no fluid for your 5th gear

 

Yes, low fluid can cause that problem.

 

or your tranny could be fawked...miones used to spit back on 3rd and other gears would be fine

 

yes, you are low on fluid...it used to happen to me until i filled it back up with oem honda MTF...also it could be doing it b/c of the oil used such as motor oil 10w-30...if you are using motor oil flush that stuff out and go get some honda MTF...be safe than sorry...

When was the last time you had a tranny flush? From what it sounds like, it may be your sync. and most likely you might have to do some tranny work......$$$

 

i've never seen low fluid level make a gear pop out, but fifth is farthest from the fluid . . . then again i always keep fluid level in check and fix leaks pronto on everything.
but i have seen broken synchro springs more than a few times. this will cause exactly what you describe. Honda does not sell them by themselves. you just have to find another junk trans and get one from there, or know somebody who will sell you one by itself. i can hook you up on one if you want.
