oil in spark plug tub
Do you have a repair manual? You have to back off valves before removing rocker arms. need information to torque, set valves ect. For me setting valves was hardest part seems like you need three hands. My manual went with car when I sold it. Not a very hard job if you can read and follow directions in manual.
if u are seeing oil when u remove spark plug wires the first thing i would do is replace the spark plug seals they are under the valve cover ,,,,,,,,remove valve cover turn it over there are 4 oval shaped seals . replace those, install new valve cover gasket. put a light film of honda bond on plug seals and at the curved ends in valve cover gasket put it together ,,see if it will fix ur problem

Just ask for a Valve Cover Gasket at the local Advance Auto and they will give you a whole kit. They will give you the main gasket and the 4 tube seals. And apply the silicone where deserthonda said.

The manual sayes to back off the valves before removing rocker arm assy. I guess so there is no tension on valves when tourqing back down. Then you have to reset valves after. The engine has to be turned with a ratchet on the crankshaft bolt to set each valve. I would send you a copy of the proceedure, but I gave my repair manual to the person who bought my 92. Maybe DesertHonda can help with the process?
Get a repair manual (the one from honda dealer Helms I think), if you have common sense and can read and follow directions it can save you a lot of money. It saved me a lot.

If you have the o-rings.
1. remove valve cover
2. loosen jam nut on valve adjusting screw
3.back off valve adjusting screws on all valves
4.loosen rocker arm assy bolts (I would loosen each one one half turn at a time until they can be turned by hand). leave the bolts in the rockerarm assy so you don't mix them up
5. If I remember right, you can lift up rocker arm assy. and not lift or move the cam if you watch what you are doing. The side opposite the timing belt may want to come up because the belt is pulling the other end down.
6.replace o-rings from around sparkplug holes. (read manual please)
7.replace rockerarm assy. and torque bolts down. (read manual please, for sequence and ftlbs.)
8.set valves,( read manual for settings and proceedure), you have to turn the engine over with a ratchet on the crankshaft bolt for each set of valves.(If the crankshaft is hard to turn, you can remove sparkplugs to make it easier to turn)
9.relpace valve cover (REMEMBER THE TOURQE ON THE VALVE COVER NUTS IS ONLY 7FTLBS), sparkplugs, and wires, (DON'T FORGET TO INSTALL THE GROUND WIRE TO THE VALVE COVER) IF THERE IS ONE .
GOOD LUCK !!!
YOU NEED TO FOLLOW THE PROCESS IN THE MANUAL, TAKE YOUR TIME AND DO IT RIGHT OR YOU WILL SCREW SOMETHING UP. FOR YOUR OWN SAKE DON'T BE IN A HURRY TO FINISH THE JOB. YOU SHOULD ALSO HAVE SOME HONDABOND GASKET SEALANT ON HAND TO DO THE JOB RIGHT.NOTHING GOES THROUGH HONDABOND!!!

That's because it is based on a complete teardown and rebuild of the entire engine. That's why the Helms manual is better for specific jobs. It's easier to follow. If your going to teardown the entire engine, It would make sense to do that first. The engine would have also been removed from the car by then.

You will risk your valves slapping the piston at an inapropriate time and F*C* something up. Or your valve openings are going to be all screwed up and you will think you are in a blown 454 at the tree.

Huey's is a good place here in st louis. I wanted a valve adjustment and they stated that it was preferable to change the seals at the same time (gasket and plug seals since they had to remove the valve cover to get to the valves. it added $40 to the price so I said why not?
If it starts leaking too bad, the oil can start shorting out the spark plug. This will make it run real bad. Then you have to find a way to suck it out of the tube. If you can't suck it out with the sparkplug in the tube, when you remove the plug all that oil is going into the cylinder. Don't wait too long, or find a way to get it out without removing the plug. I duck taped a small hose to a little shop vac and sucked as much out as I could with the plug still in the engine. Just something that might come up later, if you have to wait a while to get it done. If you have a little vacume pump that would be even easier.

You can also spray some brake cleaner in there and use compressed air and a couple of shop towel to cover and soak it up when it is sprayed out. You may have to do this a couple of times.
Sucking it out is better but if you can't. Make sure plug is still in when you do this.
