Default Totaled my s2k sorda...

i was leaving my house to go to work... and i notice my tires were wet... but i payed no attention too it... so i was leaveing my house... and i took a turn goin like 25-30 it was a 90 degree turn and ive takin this turn much faster befor... but it jus didnt wanna turn this time... car turned a lil and skided the rest of the way tru n hit a gutter preatty hard! i did everything possible to keep from hitting that gutter... didnt work... wasnt that much space between where i turned and the gutter so ya that would have helped if it were wider... so i hit the gutter... front right tire hit first back right tire hit right after! soo the dmg report on my car that i know of just by looking at it was...

1. axel
2. chassis
3. front sway bar bent in... (there is a gap between my door and the front half of my car...
4. control arm
5. rims & tires
6. body...

so ya im gonna get it all fix thank god for insurance haha full coverage! i pay a total of 250 and they pay the rest woo hoo haha!

ohhh did i mention that the car wouldnt move @ all haha that front right wheel like wouldnt turn any more... lol soo it would have been almost nearly impossible to get it up there... heh

exactily. that is like towing a FWD car backwards and having the front wheels rolling instead of the back ones.

The manual says to get a flat bed. If towed with the rear wheels like that I think that would actually damage the differential. But I'm not 100 percent sure....

As long as the transmission is in neutral, nothign will happen.

Is it bad? not really, always better to flatbed when given the opportunity.

But just remember that a differential is just a bunch of gears, its all mechanical, and pretty straightforward. Instead of the usual driveshaft turning the diff, which turns the wheels; the wheels are turning the diff, which is rotating the shaft, which is spinning freely.

Nothing will happen.

^^^ It has been proven that towing a rear wheel drive car does subtle to major damage depending on car and towing distance in this fashion...theres no way around it. There was a story on bimmerforums of a guys brand new M3, being towed like that from one state to another...it got there, and had major differential damage...BRAND new car, with differential damage.

If you authorized the tow truck to take it like that with a signature, you'll be responsible. Just FYI.

The dude wrecks his car and is upset about it and you ***** want to argue about if it is bad to tow the car on the rear wheels.

How sad.

What will be sad is the day he goes to pick up his S after it gets repaired and he can't drive it home because the rear end is jacked.
