Default well after much debate within my head...

I said - I only live once - I'm not married - I'm 21 - Let me do one last stupid thing.

Now I'm the proud owner of a 03 GSXR 600 black/silver.

it was a pretty sweet deal IMO after searching around.

came with frame sliders, flush front turn signals, 4k miles, brand new never worn SHOEI helmet - never been dropped - original owner who was about 45

said he just realized this hurts his back too much now and needs to get a cruiser.

i refuse to ride the bike at the moment - except for around my neighborhood (small area - just 30 houses)

all I have are gloves and a helmet - so until I get the jacket which will be a textile till it gets cold - I'm playing it safe.

Brian when we gonna go for a ride? I'll be pickin up the text this week.

Congrats on the new ride man. Be watchful of cheaper textile jackets though. I have a friend I ride with who got off at about 80 on smooth pavement and the jacket got so hot as he slid it melted to his arms. Joe Rocket and Alpinestars will do you just fine if you don't want leather yet though.

Just wanted to throw in positive comments on all the gear I bought. I'm a new rider as well and after so many starts in different hobbies, I've learned its easiest to do it right the first time, instead of half-assing and doing it right later on.

A* GP-Plus gloves = Will be great for fall, a little warm now because of the lack of perforation, but I really havent had any issues and I've done a few 150+ mile days in 90 degree and humid weather.

A* TZ-1 jacket = as well, I did probably 400 miles in it before I even bothered taking the lining out of it. Very comfortable now thats its breaking in, only complaint is the stiff collar, but only issue I've had with that is it makes it a PITA to do headchecks, my helmet hits it and limits my range of motion for my head.

A* Twin leather pants = Very comfortable, wanted leather pants without the fitted cut, picked these up in my size on ebay from some chick that had worn them for drag racing her bike a few times and that was it. All mesh-lined so they dont stick to your legs, makes peeling them off at the end of the day a breeze too.

Shoei TZ-R = very comfortable, a little noisy, but ear plugs solve that with a quickness. Obviously fit and feel will all be personal preference, so YMMV.

Good luck out there!

If I decide to track it - I'm not that stupid as I used to be and as careless - I believe a pair of the kevlar enforced jeans and jacket/gloves/helmet should be sufficient in my style of riding.

I don't enjoy being "up on one" - did that plenty for 8 years riding around on my dirt bikes. My moto is "down on two"

My friend has a hookup at A* cause I think he's a dealer so he's pricing out the following:

the Stage and TZ-1 for leather

T-Venom Air-Flo for textile

and the SP-S and SP-1 gloves.

I already have a Shoei Diabolic TC-5

If you want a Joe Rocket leather jacket I have one for cheap along with gloves. Good luck with the purchase and obviously do that MSF.

If you were worried about being "too common" you should not have gotten a gixxer j/k

Congrats on your purchase

well most ppl around my area have an yamaha/honda and the suzuki's are always yellow or blue. I think it's more uncommon in my area than other bikes. and for a 600 sportsbike iono what else i could have gotten in my price range.

but thanks.

pics this weekend - working all week then off to the beach till saturday.
