Nice!
Since you are completely tearing it down for a rebuild, how much will you have left over for internal goodies? Seems like it took you a while to get the motor itself so it might be that you are on a budget for upgrades as well.
A cam is always a great upgrade
A nice set of rods would be nice for nitrous or forced induction, but not 100% necessary if you aren't planning to pass 200hp.
You might want to look into some slugs and valve train upgrades if you are looking into the engine lasting a long long long time with nitrous.

it only took me awhile to ghet the motor b/c i couldnt find one around here that wasnt an assload,i just didnt want to pay for sohc that i would pay for dohc, i got this motor for a pair of 89 teg seats, haha. i want to build the **** out of it. i am gona put and cam and all that **** in it, i want it to be bad ***.
i only have one thing to say............ECOTEC POWER RULES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!GO COBALT!!!!!
nah just kiddin!!!! i knew that would get the die hard guys all riled up.
hell i should be drop-kicked in the face just for thinkin about GM.
but really........what i meant to say is 2 cams r better than 1......in other words
the b is betta than the d

2 cams are better, no doubt, but the B is only better than the D in stock forms.
What about the Dual cam D's...ZC powa!!
No but good luck man, A cheap alternative to the cam is to get a Y8 cam for now, slightly better than the Z6.

B series are better than D and they do have more potential for power but if you jsut want to do a low budget say 200 hp build a d16z6 with a junkyard turbo kit can get you there for really cheap.......but he wants to build the **** out of it
I suggest tunner toys rods (225 bucks)
vitara pistons unless you want to spend a lot more......leave the sleeves stock unless you really want to go all out
get a block guard and have the cylindar walls honed.....and you have a fairl beefy bottom end.....but I am just babbling because hee wants to stay NA
NA with a single can IMO is kinda pointless I am not trying to get anyone riled up here that is just my opinion for about the say money and hp....you could do a b series and it would be more realiable than an all motor d......I am not speaking froma lot of experience so no flamers please just my 2 cents that is all

*** that .. the engine weigh's next to nothing compared to a DOHC.. if you build it up a Ton and get like 150hp out of it.. then your really going to feel it... sure it doesn't have as much potential.. but its still a fun engine to work with.

It has plenty of potential, just don't "build the **** out of it" for all motor, then later go turbo. Keep it's compression stock, or lower it even more if you can find some pistons that will do it. Replace the rings because you said it's "smoking" and that's most likely the problem. Put on a thick headgasket, get it running decent, then build a $1000 turbo set up for it and smash on B-series motor's all day.

well since u brought it up ill throw my 2 cents.
b series is great it is a performance motor that honda engineered to go faster than a D. but with that comes a hefty price tag and replacement parts for b series is also bank. and most of it u cant find in a junkyard. ive got 3 D15s right now and i could probably build a complete motor for free from them.
actually its just the b16 heads that everyone jocks. many times ive thought about goin LS.

its not the fact thats its a D series...... its the fact that he made a post with a title that made me think it was a badass motor or something....
he searched for a while and all he got was a d16z6 that smoked.
how is that a good find? everyone that says..... "hes gonna build it into a beast" doesnt know ****, hes obviously a cheap *** if hes only looking for motors that he can get for a pair of seats. **** THIS THREAD, get a real motor.
