ebay coilovers sleeves, with some good shocks= Decent ride?
I got some coilover sleeves for my car, I was wondering if I get some good shocks like some koni adjustables or something, can I still use them and have a decent ride??? anyone done this before?
My friend had some ebay sleeves and illuminas on his hatch. I hated it, i felt the springs on them were too soft and all it did was lower the car.
i wanted to try the exact same thing because the coilovers on ebay are like .50 cents.
hey man give em a shot and tell me what you think.

bouncy is from insuficient dampning relative to the spring rate.
If they had an Ebay spring that was 400lb/in (assuming it was actually 400lb/in) and it was bouncy then a 400lb/in Eibach will also be bouncy. Though, the ebay one will probably sag, the Eibach will probably not.

i bought my coilovers off of ebay... some company called Tom Motorsport... i ordered the coilovers for an EK because they are heavier and therefor should have a hgiher spring rate... i bought them for $75 shipped and i love them... the ride is very comparable to skunk2's... firm yet its still pretty comfortable... the spring rates are 450 in the front and 350 in the rear... the only problem ive had with them is that they squeak a little bit when i go over roads with a bunch or small bumps... go ahead and get some and let us know what you think... if they turn out to be crap then youve only wasted $75 instead of $200+

I had a set of those $1.59 coilovers on my CRX....the car was undrivable. I was way to hard. The reason I took them off was because I hit a bump and the rear end came off the ground and began to come around on me.....so when the car landed, I almost flipped. That very day I took them off.....BUT ....just for fun I put the same springs on my 92 hatch(which had new stock shocks/struts) and it drove like a dream...no bounce and no bottoming out. Hope that helps.
I bought an EF Si with shitty ebay coilovers and shitty tokico blues. It rides... guess what, shitty. I don't just mean harsh, I mean this car handles like fat loose droopy ***. In other words, worse than stock. It's borderline dangerous. Speedbumps suck the big one. Even at low speeds, the car hops off them. I even raised the car an inch and it still sucks.
It's not just the spring rate, its the shitty sleeves that rattle around and the low quality of the springs. I seriously doubt they're a linear rate, even though they're designed that way. No doubt the alloy and manufacturing process screwed that all up. To compare these to Eibachs is like comparing a 3 cylinder Geo to a NSX.
My EG has the Tokico RAK with reasonable drop and it handles and rides 50X better. I'm thinking about getting the Omni's or something comparable for my EF, just something decent price with good ride/handling for the street.

I had ebay coilovers on illuminas. As a matter of fact, I had one of the better brands of ebay ****--maxspeed. The ride felt exactly like the Indiana Jones Ride at Disneyland. Get some decent coilovers or springs and save yourself the motion sickness.
