Timing belt came loose!!
So my engine died today at an intersection while approaching a left turn.
As I was hearing flapping noise but couldn't figure out what it was, I thought there was something hanging inside the wheel. When I found out it was already too late.
Infact, I came to a hault while the car was rolling to a stop at about 2000rpm, I wasn't pushing the car or revving it at all. It just stalled on me all of a sudden and wouldn't crank up.
So at this point, I dont know if any my valves are bent. But Im expecting the worst scenario.
My car has been towed to a shop to diagnose the problem, visually the belt has slipped off the cam gears just hanging between the valve cover and cam gears.
But I still dont understand how the belt slipped out, as I did my timing belt change just 6 months ago with less than 10K.
Im pretty sure the belt was slipped out while the car was idling with minimal revs, would this be severe enough to bend valves? There was no sign of power loss before hand, the problem just happened in a split second.
This is the worst day of my lude. I haven't even really push my car yet after the SMSP header and now sh*t happens.

Which JUN bumpsticks? If too much more lift than stock, could be a problem. I was rolling along about 70 in 5th gear when my t-belt took its last spin. Redid belt and started just fine. Compression was same as before it broke. Also had a friend loose one while rolling through mall parking lot, no damage then either.

Mine just shredded this past tuesday also. Apparently, a bolt vibrated loose and the CKP/TDC sensor came off and the metal piece that is under the Timing belt crank sprock shredded 2/3 of the timing belt. Im running the complete crower valvetrain minus cams and the H23 manual tensioner conversion. Im praying nothing happend to the valves. My shop told me that I could have "reved too high causing the bolt to vibrate loose" However, They were supposed to locktite everything. Im paying for the parts and they are doing the labor for free. Once they put the new timing belt on, they are going to do a compresion test as well as a leakdown test. We shall see.....

Bummer. Guess it's time to sleeve and go to 89mm bore, right?
