remove abs in 95 accord?
i would like to no if i can remove the abs in my accord will this effect my brakes i dont like abs and im tring to get reid of some weight for the track. is it possible? i have a jdm h22 and the abs is all unplugged anyway can i remove the whole unit and rerout my brake lines? please help my motor is pulled out to make it easier. thanks all the help would be great.
just turn it off. You can remove it but you will have to replace a lot of the brake parts with non abs version of the unit if you cannot just remove the control module
Fortunately, Automakers don't like product liability lawsuits; so they designed ABS systems such that when they failed (for whatever reason) the brakes reverted back to a "normal" mode (where you once again can lock up and skid)
With GM vehicles, disabling the ABS is no more complicated that pulling a fuse.
With a Honda, I'm not familiar. But chk first; there may be other important stuff on that same circuit, before you pull that fuse.

you will need to get the brake lines for the non abs, and the perportioning valve that is located on the firewall of a non abs car, you will need to reroute the brake lines from the abs unit to the valve. you will have to remove the engine to get to the lines and valve.
you can remove the abs censors from the wheels, axles and wires to them. the abs ecu can be removed and the abs fuse box and wires.
i just left my abs turned of when it went bad, then i got a new unit for 50$, if your gonna have it in ur car, why not let it work, its there for a reason.

remove the relays and the modulator that is the main thing that weighs the most .u will have to remove abs bulb behind instrument cluster or it will be on but if that does not bother u leave it on ...
my advise for what is worth ............i notice u live in PA a lot of snow in winter time abs is highly needed and reccomended in that kind of weather it could reduce the stopping distance if u were ever to come to a panic stop or skid on snow abs could save u from an accident ,,,but if u use car just for the track and not an everyday car then u really dont need abs ......
To conclude if u drive this car daily in PA in winter time do not remove ABS .. FIX it it might save ur life 1 day
