Default Why the sudden R sales

Is it because of the theft going on and the integra being the number one stolen automobile has raised insurance rates? Is it fact acura is deleting the type-s. What is really going on.

"To death do us part"

Really...

But the sales of ITRs have been and always will be a frequent thing. Many People have many reasons but I think the #1 reason is a tie... Need for money and Fear of it being stolen.

Maybe people are starting to realize it's just an Integra.

maybe....

but its still considered a piece of history. I mean, when it first came out, it was the most sought after for tuners. I'd love to own one despite the fear factor of it being stolen. If that ever happens...I'd be the first to petition for the legalization of the South African anti-theft system ( Why we aren't doing it now....I dunno )

Ive always been a fan of the ITR's however I do not own one. If you dont mind, I will share my opinion.

Like Bbasso said, I think alot people are finding to own an ITR more of an inconvenience than its worth. Maybe years ago the owners had different priorities. Their priorities probably included the ITR amongst the top of their list. People age and develope. Priorities shift. Great members here on the board are getting married.

I wish I could mod and play with Hondas for the rest of my life but I know it wont happen. There will be a point in time in my life that I know it has to go.

IMO the type r is the worst car to own right now. they r gettin jack left and right. i use to want one really bad but my parents wont buy it for me due to the high theft and insurance rates. but it could be that people moved on and want a more luxury car. just my .02.

I know one thing for sure is 15-20 years from now, the R's will be worth a pretty penny. They will be sought after more than they were before.

I hope to have mine for at least 10 years... So far it's 5 I'd like to see what it fetches in 15-20 years from now. I might just sell it then if it gains more value then the current $19-20k

I honestly have no plans on selling it. It's paid in full and gets used enough to keep me happy and interested and then those track days

Theft.

Can't leave it anywhere without ricers coming up to your window and pressing their noses against it.

Theft.

Insurance is nuts.

Can't leave it parked anywhere and rest easily that it will be there when you come back. I absolutely love my R, but I'm realizing there are more important things in life. I forget how nice it is to leave a nice car unattended for more than 5 minutes without having to worry. I want that back.

I went to a local drag event at an airport. They have muscle cars there, imports, every car you can think of. I only attended to check out my buddy's turbo R which he was racing. I parked my car WAY far away, as usual, so nobody would bother it. I get ten steps away, turn around to see about 8 high school guys surrounding it, with one pressing their nose against my driver's side window. (I have a proximity sensor, but had it disconnected because of where I was parked a few days earlier which was making it act all quirkly).

So I turn around, march back, pissed as hell, and tell them to back off. I said I didn't mind if they look, just don't get so close. That's how **** I am about that car. I don't want a scratch to be put in it.

I'm planning on picking up a used 02-04 Type-S just because it's much more practical. Of course it won't compare to the ITR, but what can ya do? Gotta bite your lip and go on. Maybe a few years down the road I'll look into getting another.

Meh.

I knew that it was a target when I got it. I still love driving a limited production car as opposed to driving a mass production car, but that's just me.

No, not really. They were anywhere from 28k-32k (32k at tustin acura) so not many "tuners" ever had the opportunity to see one. They didn`t get really sought after til they returned in yellow and black.

even though its jsut an integra, i am still drawn to it, for the same price, i could get an e36 m3, which would out preform the type r in nearly every way, yet i would still rather have an integra type r, this is of course if i can find eather for my way low budget,

Funny ****!!

I hope it's mounted on the A pillar so when you stop short, your passengers can slam their nose bone on it.
It's pure genius when folks mount those in such a safe place.

You'll pay more for insurance with an ITR, certainly. However, it's still a decently performing, reliable little car with a decent heritage and a lot of parts support and technical support, and whatever you want to get out of the car somebody else has already done it and help is available.

And you'll have to do a lot of modifying before it becomes a fuel conscious vehicle.

I think that with some recent purchasers there might have been a sudden epiphany that it is just a 200 HP Civic, essentially, and it's hard for the car to live up to an uninitiated person's idea of what the car's supposed to be...because it frankly just is not a supercar nor does it deserve the reputation it has in some circles.

If you know what you're doing and know what you're getting into, if you know it's still just a 200 HP Civic and you really enjoy driving it and using some of its potential, it's still a great car to own.

However, if you want the best performance you can get in a modern car, then there are better buys out there.

Yes, the DC5 is getting close to the end of its model life. It will carry on at least through the 2006 model year, however. The subtle changes made to the Type S for the 2005 model year make it a satisfying car to drive.

The idea behind the Type S will probably soldier on in some kind of CL7/CL9 (Euro Accord/TSX) coupe.
