the smell you're experiencing may be a result of old leaves or pine needles that have accumulated on the cowel (near the windshield wipers where your ventilation system pulls in outside air) and have fallen next to your AC evaporator coil. The evaporator coil area becomes wet under normal operating conditions and mixes with the bio material that has fallen in. The result is the musky smell from the decomposing leaves. The only way to clean that out is to get under the glove compartment area and take the evaporator cover off to access the gunk. You can try to cover the smell by spraying fabreeze or something into the cowel with the blower running in fresh air mode, but that's no guarantee. This is why it's a good idea to clean the leaves off your cowel on a daily basis.

hi. a/c guy here. go to your local heating and air contractor. explain your situation and ask them for some "pan tabs" these are put into the evaporator drain pans in houses to prevent the musty smell that they get. they are made of powdered bleach and odorants. break one into quarter size peices and throw it into the evap enclosure after you clean it out. it will keep it smelling good for at least a year.

there is also a spray they make that you spray into the air intakes to kill the bacteria. I bought some from shucks.

Hey what's up. I keep my car clean to death, I treat her as I treat my girl ''maintain''. 1st I would sprinkle the carpet with high brand baby powder. Let the baby power sit in the car over night then vaccum. Don't forget to do your clothe seats too. Then I would buy some type of cleaner made to be sprayed and wipe off. Then armor protector. After that then place the refreshner inside the car.

You may think of place baby powder on the floor is crazy, but it's like placing carpet cleaner. So no harm, your car will smell good. Belieave me, I just bought my Integra, the carpet was filled with rotton leaves because the buy left the windows open, so the carpet was filled with water. It toke 1day to clean the inside of my car, now it's perfect, brand new. All it needs is TLC.
