the 4 stroke yamahas have a very flat appearing seat foam, maybe look to see if an older 2 stroke seat foam will fit??

Hmmm not a bad idea. Do you know what years have a smaller seat that would fit an 04?

i owned a 97 yz250 then an 01 z250f. there were considerable differences between the two.
i could not say for sure weather or not the seats are interchangeable. you would have better luck trying between the same model year.
try powersports pro to look at microfiche and compare part numbers of rear subframes and gas tanks.
or just go talk to your local motorcycle shop.
