DC integra OEM optional Fog.... can you Re-wire?
so yeah, i want to re-wire my fogs on my 01 GSR so they can light up independantly, without needing the healights on. i did this with my G2, but after searching on this, and a few other boards, i couldnt find anything on how to do this. ANY help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I did this to my DB8...Just take the wire that you have to connect to the 12V headlight source, and connect it to a 12 V ignition source.

The one wire that you must slide into the 7 pin connector during installation, that wire tells the fogs when to run on and off. Just connect that wire to you Positive cigarette lighter wire (for instance) and now you can control your fogs independant from the light switch
Well, i spliced it to my Radio cuttoff switch, my Fuel Pump power cutoff and my cigarette lighter with no success. what happens, is i hear a little "click" coming from the gauge cluster area. this click always sounds off when i turn the fogs on. so it sounds like power is running to it, but something under the dash is prohibiting it...
any other suggestions?
oh, heres the pics of the new bulbs i got. its the OEM dealer optional Raybrig foglights. i put just some Nokya Yellow bulbs in. i though my car would look real nice with the fogs always on kinda like DRL (daytime running lights). so i can have my USDM mode (with lights off) or my JDM mode (with lights on) during the daytime LOL
yeah i didnt want to paint the outside. heres pics now:

That sounds like the relay is being turned on, but there's no power going to the lights themselves.
Ok, it works like this, the relay works like a remote switch. It uses lower voltage to energize a magnetic coil that pulls two contacts together inside of it, to allow power to flow to an object.
Now the relay will have two hots. One hot leg comes straight from a power source. In your case, it's probably connected to the bumper light's switch, so that when they're on, the fogs can come on too.
The other hot leg is what goes to the switch inside of your car. That's probably the wire you connected to your radio wire. When that wire has power, it can then run through the switch in the car, to the relay, which will energize it and clsoe the circuit.
That clicking sound is how you know that the relay is activating. No problem there.
What you need to do is get the first hot leg going into your relay and connect it to an always on, or an ACC-on power supply. If you connect it to your battery, it should work. As long as the relay's de-energized when the car turns off, so you don't kill your battery if you forget to turn the lights off.
Cliff notes; There's two hot legs, one that is interrupted by the relay, and one that activates the relay. You got the activator right, now find the other hot leg and connect it to a hot lead. And you should be set.

Did you do the install yourself?
IF so, you'll remember slipping in a 1 pin wire into a 7 pin connector, which connects to the light switch. Instead of slipping the wire into the connector, route it to a 12v ignition source and connect it to that. That will now allow the fogs to turn on and off with the fog light switch and not have to rely on the headlight switch for power.
Put it this way...I have the exact same Raybrig OEM Acura Fogs in my Teg, and I did exactly what i've been trying to explain to you. I can turn on my fogs at any time. Last time you were fiddling with a yellow wire. Well, try the same thing, just use the red/white stripe wire .

no i didnt install myself. but now i blew the fuse. and to add to taht, there is no red/white wire for the ciggartte lighter. theres only the red/white on the fog switch. im done splicing **** to the swtich directly, its NOT working. i need to splice it before the relay, so the relay cannot regulate the power going to the switch, making it independant. the wires going from the switch go into a relay type deal with a fuse on it. THATs the fuse that blew. its a 15AMP. then from there, it goes to the relay, which there is a black wire taht goes from that relay out to somewhere unknown. im gonna look into it more tomarrow. im going out tonight. **** spending another weekend night working on a unimportant fog light thing. thanks for the help

This whole time, the wire I have been talking about connceting to a 12v ignition source is the red and white wire from the fog light harness. I never said anything about the color of the cigarette lighter. Thats probably why you're getting confused.
The red and white wire from the fog light harness IS a leg of the relay. I dont know where you interpreted anything regarding wiring up anything directly to the switch.

AH ic. where would this 12v ingintion source be? in regaurds to under the dash so i can splice it in.

This is where the cigarette lighter comes in. The Cig. Lighter only turns on when the car's ignition is switched on....another spot is in the interior fuse box...test one of the male terminals that are open and un-used.

i wired the red/white wire with all of the cigarette lighter wires, just to make sure, and nothing worked.
