Wrecked piston
I am always fascinated how a piston mutilates itself.
The story behind this one was it was being run in, brand new 'kit' RS125, did about $1500 worth of damage in an uber trick jha cylinder/ignition/pipe vhm head set-up. About 15 miles into the running in it locked up.
We had suspected the cylinder bore was slighly big, but we risked it, shouldn't have. Oh well time to sue the plating people
Nightmare really. Have to change the bike back to std now as we dont have another kit. Flushing the crtank out right now, maybe have to spikt the cases, just what you dont need one day before a race meet. Thank god its not my bike

Cam phone, best I could do. You can just make out the ring embedded in the crown. The cyclinder and head insert are wrecked. Looks like the ring was pinched by the piston groove and it expanded into the port, shattering the crown.

Things looking up. A local guy who is 'the' 125 team owner is giving up a kit. Stock ignition but it will be quick for the weekend. I'd hate to see anyone try to rescue a 4 stroke with anything like this sort of damage in this timeframe.

Two Strokes! Great to work on, not fun splitting cases.
