installing ST rear sway bar on 89 CRX Si
Just got the Suspension Techniques rear sway bar for the 89 CRX Si... I'm a bit confused about installation.
The instructions say to knock off the lower shock mounting nut with a chisel, but on the forums someone nonchalantly said that is only for non-Si's. Is this correct?
What is the best way to install this sway bar?
Thanks!
Justin

i'm pretty sure what he meant was that the si's came with a rear-sway, and they mount in a totally different fashion than the st's. i think if someone with an si was to use the st bar they would have to knock off that nut also. i may be wrong tho.

You are correct. Even though an Si has it's own sway bar holes in the lower control arm, you cannot use them with the ST rear bar so Si people will also have to remove the lower shock mounting nut and bolt the sway bar mounto that point.
I have an Si and an ST sway bar that I have never yet installed because I wanted to find a way to mount it to the lower control arm and not remove the shock nut (too much of a purist). I have not figured out how to do it yet and doubt that it will be possible.

Jack the car up and put it on jackstands. Remove wheel and tire. The suspension is in full droop. Remove lower shock bolt and you're ready for the next operation.
