OK, I have a 2000 EX and I have a rattle coming from around the Radio Head Unit. The Head Unit is still OEM as is the little storage compartment under it.

Its driving me nuts so I'm about to go into the dash to try to fix it, but I would like to ask what the most likely culprits are.

If I press up on the top of the storage compartment under the head unit, the rattle stops. The same happens sometimes if I push on the main center dash bezel.

Suggestions are appreciated.

 

Maybe, the console is loose. Tighten the 4 bolts that hold the console in place. This is under the 12v socket panel. Mine sometimes make squeeky noises but my compartment comes right off since i removed the bolts a long time ago.

Try to also move the wire harness away from the walls of the area. That can also vibrate against something to make noise.
