Default Velocity Stack?

I am looking for a place to buy a velocity stack for the end of my intake. I have seen them on a few cars on here. I have searched and came up empty handed. Any help?

I dont believe you are using the correct teminology. Velocity stacks are mainly used with ITB's and/or carb'd motors and they dont go on the end of an intake.

I think what you are trying to say is either a throttlebody spacer or venturi plate. Those can be purchased from NOPI online. http://www.nopionline.com

uh no....he's talkin about a velocity stack, to smoothin the transition of airflow into the actual intake tube. rs akimoto and prototype racing make one. you might even be able to find a large abs speaker port on some of these diy stereo websites

I was just going to say that--the cheap chrome plastic ones from autozone ($10-$15?) Velocity stacks DEFINATELY help power--but its hard to fit an air filter on them--in my humble opinion you should NEVER run without an air filter--I wouldn't even do it on a race motor--A number of years ago--I made a velocity stack out of some 3" aluminum chimney/dryer piping I got at Home Depot--I just made a nice 1/2" radius lip on the end by rolling a pencil over and over..I swear it felt like 20 hp!! I only ran it like this for maybe 50 miles. When I tore the motor down (I broke a piston ring) even in the healthy cylinders--the cylinder walls looked like someone took a wire brush to them--all from the dirt getting in and mixing with the oil--making a destructive slurry---I would stay away from no filter at all..

but you had no filter all the time?

usually when you run a stack, its only to race with..then it needs to be removed and filter put back in to place when done racing....

You can put filters on some of them. There were one or two threads where people actually listed the K&N part numbers for filters that would work with some velocity stacks.

redcivicstandard runs a velocity stack on his intake with a filter, its a sweet setup. He also mentioned there was no power loss with the filter in place vs. the open velocity stack. I want to do this setup as well. I believe import builders has the good ones, with the full 180 degree radius while some of the other ones just have a small radius. I have heard nothing but goog things about this setup though, and that nearly every car makes gains from it.

The prototype velocity stack can be filtered, unlike the akimoto and most others. There are filters from k+n and green that fit the application.

Yes that's my old thread... I use it on my CRX and it works great. I found a smaller K&N filter (RC-2960) and now it works like a CAI intake. It sits in my front bumper and the sound is just freaking nice

The one I used--was just a 3-inch aluminum chimney duct from home-depot--I just managed to make a nice lip on it--there was no way to fit a standard filter on it--I only ran it like that for a couple days anyway...
