Race Day
Me and all my friends r going 2 a track in Macon GA next weekend, and i was wondering what i should do 2 my motor like add something, like oil treatment, or somethin like that just 2 have it run good so i dont mess up nothin, i dont red line gears or n e thing, i was just wondering what i should do before i go...
okay... you own a GS-R and you don't take it to redline??
Where do you shift?
I wouldn't add any sort of treatments, boosters, snake oils, etc. to the engine. None of that crap helps you on the strip to the best of my knowledge. You might want to get an oil change if you're due for one.
When you run, you should probably try taking it to redline, otherwise you'll likely be running high 16's.

ur funny man, anyhow you have a gsr and they make power at the top end, if you don't feel the pull that doesn't mean that its not making power. maybe your power curve just leveled off. anyways you should go to redline because when you shift gear, you want your rpms to be as high as possible because of power that you are getting up there. just try it at the track since your going and see if you run faster.

you should shift higher, even if you don't make a lot more power at 8100 as opposed to 7000 look at where you are shifting to.
at 8100, if you shift quickly you can keep the rpms high enough so that it will not go below the point where the secondary intake runners close again.
if you shift at 7000 you will drop your rpms to about 4500 right above vtec kick in, and it is not at the highest torque point in the band, which is where you want to be when you are shifting.
if you don't want to take it up to redline, you should at least add annother 500 to your shift.

Trust me, Take it all the way top, and you'll be getting better times... You'll land on higher RPMS when you shift, and yield better times... Take it to 8200rpm like I do!
gsrs are made to redline -- and they make power all the way -- if not they level off and still are making good power. dont shortchange yourself. its not bad for the car.
They are right quick... redline... definatly.
Change your oil a day or so before you go. Check it when you get their and do what you've gotta do to make sure it's all good.
Check your coolant level, add some water if needed.
Check your brake and clutch resevoir... Add brake fluid to either if needed.
Are you bringing an extra set of wheels/tires?
if not, bring a portable air tank or pump. Lower your psi before you run. The lower your tire pressure the larger your contact patch is... the more contact your tires are making with the ground, the better traction you will get.
What kind of tires will you be running on?
DON'T SMOKE YOUR STREET TIRES... IT DOESN'T HELP. I've heard some people say they spin their Kumho's or Falken's before they run, but I really can't see it making enough of a difference to justify the wear... wait till you get slicks or drag radials, then smoke them up.
DON'T DRIVE THOUGH THE WATER. That will hurt your traction BAAAAD.
Before you leave, if you really want to get serious, take out your interior (aside from the carpet, not worth the cut unless you are going to really get serious into this).
Lastly... all I can think of now... WHen you are staging... pull up slowly until your pre-stage light glows.... then, really slowly, pull up until the stage light comes on. Don't go any farthur than you have to. When you see that last yellow light flash on, take off. Having a good start with such a short (?) stage will yield the best reaction times.
Good luck. Post your times when you get back.

Hey.. somethin to shoot for... The best I ever ran with my LS engine was a 10 flat on 13 psi street tires (on 14" acura rims) with no mods aside from 9 lb flywheel, type r oem clutch and pressure plate, suspension (koni's) set as firm as i could get, aem cai, no cat, full comptech ss exhaust (stock header), and a stripped interior with only a driver's seat. I had a bad start, but I still did pretty good.
You better take it to the redline because I am going to be there to race you and I will, you dont want to look bad.......lol
And I told you it was bad to burn out with street tires.......lol
good luck

i don't think anybody has mentioned this have the least amount of gas in your tank gas is heavy, i went with a full tank a while back bad idea, this is bad for your fuel injectors but try to go on empty
