Default info on putting an H22 head on H23 block

I have an H23 block and i am going to build it from the ground up with race performance parts but since H23 are non-VTEC i wanted to put an H22 VTEC head on it. I have heard it could be done but was wondering for sure, are there any problems i may run in to. Thanks in advance.

From what I've heard its difficult and yeilds virtually no gains over H22. Although if you dont mind a bunch of work and you already have all the parts, go for it. Good luck

only problem is more power than an h22.. its not as hard as homeboy just stated.. but keep in mind that motor doesnt have a good rod ratio, so ur redline is gonna be lower.. if u try to rev it like a b16.. or an h22, eventually u will have probs..

possibly.. but doesnt the h23/vtec hp/tq advantage worth the trouble?

^^ there is almost no gains. do a search, there are a few threads with h22 and h23vtec dynos on top of one another with no difference.

I believe this gives you roughly a 2.4 motor.... (heard, don't quote me)

nah.. the motor displacement wise stays the same... a 2.3l since the bottom end is untouched.. you would have to put some big pistons in that thing to get it to a 2.4l---

the advantage of the combo is the stroke.. like an ls/vtec.. an ls motor isnt that much bigger than a gsr, but the stroke is increased....... h23/vtec same thing.. now just imagine... ls motor gives u 2mm extra stroke over a gsr.. and its proven it makes more power.. now a h23 gives an additional 4mm's.. hmm i wonder?..
