Default '91 Civic DX hatch

How hard would an engine swap be for a '91 DX hatch? I was thinking probably just sticking with like a D15 or something, keep it cheap for my first attempt at a swap, any suggestions? My other concern is the transmission, isn't there a cable/hydraulic issue? Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated, thanks.

EDIT---I've also just found an '88 Integra for roughly the same price as the DX, which car do you guys think would be better?

Default Re: '91 Civic DX hatch (indianajones)

Alright---new info. I've looked at both cars, the DX needs a new transmission, (won't shift out of second) and the Integra needs a new head gasket---so I guess at this point is which sounds like a better deal to you guys? I don't have a lot of Honda experience, but to me a head gasket sounds easier to fix than a transmission swap, although if I swap the whole engine, the tranny won't matter. Which one would you guys choose?
