I drive a 99-00 Civic ex AT
i recently got into an accident and one of my 15" rims shattered so i put on a 16" and in the start it was doing fine but now i suspect that having a rim a size bigger is messing up my tranmission and making my car wanna over heat? Am i wrong? if so help me out

Larger wheels wont affect you that much, and most def. wont make you over heat thats just insane. My bet is when you crashed you thew out your thermostat, water pump or some how got an air bubble in your coolant lines. You could have also busted the sensor that tells your fan to turn on forgot the specific name to that sensor- but look at these wheels dont cause cars to over heat- and as for it wearing down your tranny if the 16s have a lower profile than the 15 or 14 did it wont matter . If you throw some dubbs on your civic maybe lol

i crashed the left driver side fender. where can i look for these little problems at? is there a clear sign when i start up my car and look for those things?
if you hit the drivers side....... the water pump is on that side. may want to remove your timing belt cover and take a look but then again if the cover is still in one piece i dont see how the water pump would be goofed up. Just look at the whole cooling system. You didn't hurt the radiator? you didnt lose or drain any coolant letting air into the system?

unless rediculously oversized, bigger rims aren't gonna do anything to cause overheating.
1. Check coolant level and see if fan turns on.
2. Check for any coolant leakage and/or kinked hoses.
3. How and when exactly is the car overheating?
if fan isn't coming on:
1. check for fuse (engine bay box)
2. check to see that the fan is plugged in.
3. if the fuse is there and it's not coming on then check the thermal switch. (passenger side, upper hose, on the engine) goes right into the thermostat housing w/a two wire plug. remove plug and "jumper" the plug w/a paperclip. if the fan come on when jumpered then you need a new thermal switch.
