ok so i have a full 16 longblock, skunk2 intake mani, dc 4-1 header. supposedly its a type r head but there is really no way to tell. markings are pr3-2. lets just assume its a b16 head, i am. so i got omni power valve springs and retainers, and gonna get the valves soon. i got skunk2 stage2 cams. so the head is pretty much taken car of.

BUT im going to put it on the gsr shortblock i have, complete and stock. while its out of the car should i build the block or leave it stock, its only got 20k on it and its a usdm spec. its going into a 90 crx si, and i got a gsr hydro tranny w/lsd going to mate upto the motor. i want to run low 13's. what should i do to the block if anything?

 

higher the compression with some better pistons to use that head to the most of its potential.

 

ITR pistons would do the job nicely..

 

At least put new rings in

 

I would get a set of jdm itr pistons, or p30's and new rings, make sure your bearings are in good shape, and bolt on your head. Make sure to get it tuned

 

if your cheap and you don't want to get new pistons just get a thinner headgasket to bump up that compression. oh you're also gonna have to convert that hydro tranny to cable, but i'm sure you already know that since you've gone thus far w/ ur engine
