Default Rules for a roll cage?

My car is at the point of running below a 11.49 so I am going to need a cage. What do I need to know to make it legal? I might have my friend do it as a project so he needs to know the specs to get it done... thanks! Any advice or links are appreciated..

It's a street car so I just want the minimum to keep it legal at the tracks.

I thought you had to have a 6pt up to 9.99 and an 8pt after that?

well when get one definately go with chromoly... the 7 chromoly tubes i recieved in bundle were 79.5 lbs, not including the main hoop and a few other sections.. i don't want to think of what a mild steel 10 pt cage weighs! and ive also heard its pretty tough to convert from a 6 pt to 10 pt..

Pick up the September issue of OverRev, available now for free at your favorite tuner shop, and turn to page 38 for a four page story on rollbars and cages, featuring a sidebar on an install in our project K-powered EG done by Steen Chassis.

it does say this though. Mandatory in all cars running 10.99 seconds or faster than 135mph, or per class requirments. Cars with unaltered firewall, floor, and body running between 10.00 and 10.99, roll bar permitted in place of roll cage or per class requirements.

sorry to be a post *****, but if you look at the specific rules for sport fwd it says roll bar is good up to 9.99 or 135mph trap.

most cars running high/mid 10's in FWD are going to be trapping 135+. if your building your car to go 10's....do the 10 point! (i did the 6 point first...speaking from experiance....going from 6pt to a 10 point sucks ***)
