Default D15B or DOHC ZC?

as of tomorrow when my sister signs the title, i will have a somewhat bleh DX sedan. now, i WILL do a swap....
i had planned on a b16a swap, but im kind of liking a d15b or a DOHC ZC swap, but idk. if i do the dohc zc swap, im thinking ill turbo it in about 2 months (time enough to get the money together). if i get a d15b, i can get a hydraulic tranny to go with it for $150 from homotorsonline.com. whats the general concession on these motors? any major drawbacks to either one?
it would be hella easy for me to swap the d15b because its odb1 like the car.
and what kind of power can a d-series transmission take?

i may still save and get a b-series of some sort (thought about an LS for torque too..)
its late and im tired.
so, lets have some opinions

d15b or dohc zc are going to leave much to be desired.. personally i'd be way more satisfied with a b16a or even a b18b like you had said, its going to be a world of difference over D series..

yeah, i think ill go with hmotors b16 engine/trans/ecu setup for ~$1200. after this next paycheck, ill have enough. then ill have to wait another two weeks for my next check and buy the shift linkage from hasport... etc etc.
im trying to explore all avenues before i buy, thats all.
thanks for the opinions guys. loving the turn out from this board.

the b16a that cost $1200 on hmotorsonline is obd0 and has a cable tranny.. you do not want to put that in your 93 sedan

bingo.

The correct B16A is the "second gen" and will fetch over $2,000.00 before it's all said and done - check their site again for pricing.

D15B VTEC?

DOHC ZC - is it pre-OBD, or the rare OBD1 version?

That's just a longblock - nowhere near a full swap. He'd still need a few mounts, transmission, axles, linkages, etc. etc.

Check the price on a full changeover.

the 'full swap' is like... "it could be a full swap, but you might have to buy this aftermarket stuff anyway.."

- Shift Linkage*
- Stock Motor Mounts*

*Requires aftermarket parts for most applications. We can supply you with the hasport mount kit for $300 and the hasport linkage for $60.Prices only valid with purchase of a complete changeover. We can also supply you with 90-93 Integra steering knuckles and hubs for $50 if you need them. Also availabe is the Hasport Aluminum A/C bracket for $160 and the Hasport wiring sub-harness for EF civics that are either HF or Si models (not DX or STD) for $60.

so, i think ill save that trouble, not spend the extra money, and just buy the stuff from hasport myself, i KNOW ill need the linkage, but i have to look into the mounts.
i think ill have fun finding a cable clutch pedal assembly... woOOooo

I'm confused now.

You have an EG, right?

Why would you need anything from HASport, or cable clutch pedal assemblies? Are you trying to get the cheaper cable-tranny'd B16A first-gen? If so, then you buy a conversion kit from HASport that keeps you from having to ghetto rig the cable clutch pedal assembly in the EG.

If you're talking about getting the correct second-gen B16A swap then you won't need a single aftermarket part to make the swap work, and it'll be an easier swap.

i would prolly go with neither... cause u might spend a lot of lil cash here and there jus to get it in... weigh in the prices, u might jus be able to get dohc vtec... OR throw a vtec head and turbo that... aftermarket support on a z6 or y8 head are abundant.... or u can pick up a complet h22 swap from me for 2g's obo....

i dont want to put a vtec head on this motor, two reasons for the swap.
170K miles
automatic transmission.
if i put an EX head on it, all the needed maintenance, and converted it to manual, id end up spending close to the same amount. and not nearly the performance, or the reliability because of the miles on it...
D-series motors are fun though im looking forward to having 60-70 more HP than the B7 thats in it now.

i would definatly recomend the b16a with turbo since you said your going that route. Vtec is one thing, but that with turbo is just an awsome experience. Might as well take advantage of the best of both worlds in conjunction with each other........
