Default Anyone have their car painted by MAACO?

I've got a 96 Black GS-R that could use a new paint job as the hood is faded really bad, along with the roof and rear bumper needed some fresh paint.

I'm thinking about having the entire car resprayed by them as well as having a few dings/dents removed while there at it.

Has anyone had work done by them and have any comments positive or negative? Also how much did it cost you to have whatever you had done done.

Some ppl get good results some get shitty results. Prep the car yourself before going to get it painted. Oh and search this topic comes up way too many times.

Yea I just did a search and got back what I figured; a bunch of people saying MAACO is crap. The thing I really wonder is are people saying MAACO is crap because thats the normal response for topics about MAACO or do they have real personal experience.

I had parts of my car painted by them. Make sure you prep it yourself. My paint has lasted over a year now with no signs of chipping.

well apparently most maaco shops will do very little or no prep work (as in sanding and cleaning). As a result you get a lot of chipping down the road

i took my body kit(yes I know, body kits are bad) to maaco to get painted. i asked the guy if they prepped, he said they do. Well when I got back the car with the kit on it, I noticed a couple things. First off, the paint didnt match well at all. Secondly, I saw they did absolutely NO prep work before painting. Third, they painted it while the kit was on the car(how ******* dumb can they be). And last but not least, they got paint on one of my brand new rims(which I made them replace).

All that was just the beginning. They never reattached the fender walls do they fell in while I was driving. The guard under the engine wasnt attached either, which also fell of. Then they didnt put my seatbelt back in the car. ohh, and they cracked my rear taillight

Overall, Maaco sucks

OK, better question then. Does anyone know of a good body shop in Delware or the surrounding area for decent prices.

maacoo isnt really bad, they use dupont paint, but there shitty prepers, cause there a in and out shop, there not paid to sit there and make sure the car is flawless, hell i've heard they sand and shoot, sometimes they dont even wash it after sanding liek i said this is what i heard, i preped the car myself last time, and they primered, painted and extra clear this is what my $350 maaco job looked liek the day it got home :D

u didnt do anything you have to be smart... take ur car on donuts to the shop... tell them u want the parts painted off the car... you can't assume anything u ahve to tell a shop exactly what u want done or they will not do it!

I guess it depends on where you are from, Maacos here suck. I have cars run through my shop (rim'tire) that have Maaco jobs that I've seen bugs, dirt, pinstripes all under the paint. ...yes I did say bugs plastered to the car)

As said in all of these topics, prep yourself, mask off and remove as much as possible, because they don't care what you drive or what parts it has, it'll get painted and oversprayed right over.

dont look at maaco as a, pull your car in... leave it... and expect it painted well when you pick it up, shop. look at them as a bunch of guys that have the paint... and a booth, you have to do everything else. prep the hell outta your car, and just have them put the paint on it.

I have heen macco paint flake, peel, and that can yes be done with the right prepping but remember - when you san or wet sand a car, you have to sand flat. it is easy when prepping your car to sand low spots so when it does get painted and drives past it looks wavey but i also have seen a large amout of orange peel in macco as well. just fyi i think if it turns out you got a hell of a deal because itl cost more than that just for paint alone. If they do use dupont i dont know how they can paint a car for 350 whan the paint cost more

Maaco uses anamol paint, which has the clear coat in it. That's why the "Ambassador" paint job is so cheap. They just do a light scuff on your car and then paint it. Then they bake it and the clear rises to the top making it shiny.

That's why when you see these cheap paint jobs the reflection is so blurry cause it's not a real clear coat spray.

They do have some other offers too that they spray clear and have a 3 years clear coat warranty.

All in all, you get what you pay for, from what I've seen it's a 50/50 chance they don't **** up.
