Default JUST BLEW MY ENGINE!!!! AAAAACCKK!!

update: pictures on page 1 and 2

damnit im pissed. spent the past 2 weeks (dont ask) putting a y8 head on my b7 block and i finally got her running tonight, i was so happy. took it out on the street and within 2 minutes....BOOM.... hole in the block and oil everywhere. why the hell did this happen all i did was put a ya head on?? it had to be because of the added compression. i even retarded my timing 2 degrees and turned my boost down to 6psi instead of 8. which wasnt done on my b7/z6tranny that ive been boosting for a long time. well i guess ill buy that z6 block from my friend now.

im going to go kill myself now, ok thanks.

don;t sweat it man, be lucky you are messing with d-series. Pick up a block for like 100 bucks and give it another shot

D15B7 = weak block for boost.

That, + untuned setup = what did you expect?

yea i know its a weak block. i now have an excuse to buy the z6 block from my friend. ill get it for less than $100. i got the complete y8 head from him for $50, and it came with a aem fuel rail.

gonna keep the y8 head though. i just rebuilt it. damn i hope its not fucked up.

thank god it blew up right by my house though. i got lucky there.

That sux man, learn from it. Don't ever drive a before getting it tuned (if you dont HAVE to). b16hybridsol was right at least your dealin' with d-series. Live and learn, build it right, get it tuned, then go spank some fast and furious wannabees.

Why don't you just do y8 everything? I wonder why people always mix and match D-series stuff when all the y8 stuff is the best.

Sorry for your troubles. I just blew my B16 this past weekend. I drove 2hrs to get to the track. On the burn out for the second run BLAHH! Had to call my bro to come get me, made it home by 3am, had to be at work @ 6am. Just towed the car home last night.Ripped off the head today. Floated a valve. The whole motor is destroyed. Your luck is better than mine.

what were you running for fuel management ??

you'd be suprized at how freaking durable our motors are,
IF they are tuned right !!

and how easily they DIE when they are not..

big injectors + dyno =

anything else =

Believe me, I been there,
i'm on motor #2 myself

e-manage that came with the greddy kit.

i guess it didnt like that 10.3:1 compression the y8 head gave it. i know i know stupid of me. learn from our mistakes, its the only way sometimes. well once i get the z6 block ill be back to normal 9.2:1 compression.. then ill just run the stock boost also and ill be golden. run it like that for awhile until i recover from all this and then think about forged goodies and better fuel management later on down the road..

gotta love boosted d's though!

D-series motors are the ****. I break and blow **** all the time. Hell, sometimes I smash parts just because I snap and spiral into a fit of rage.

But then five minutes and a few bucks later, I've got the part being shipped to me off of ebay

not everyones d series blocks are a dime a dozen

sucks to hear you blew it , you need to look at the cause of the problem before you boost again.

i noticed you said 10.3 comp , thats a big jump from stock , my guess was too much increaced cylinder pressure.

that and he said "within 2 minutes.."

probably got done with the swap, cranked it up, jumped in and floored it down the street to play lol.

that's generally when an untested/tuned swap like that is gonna blow

probably to comp for the raised compression of the new head..

stackz i noticed you are going to put a volvo head on the 2.3.. a buddie of mine was going to do this but after reading on alot of the forums.. its a PITA, and will cost quite a bit.. you could use the money to PnP your stock head and upgrade valvetrain... he ended up swaping in a built 289 out of a old stang.. (car is a Merkur XR4Ti).. Holset HX50 should be here next week for it
