OT: changing rear brake pads - trouble getting caliper back on!
Need help - RSX-Type-S rear brakes (same as Civic I think)
Had a bitch of a time getting the caliper off after removing the retaining screws. Put new pads in, can't get caliper back on...
Tried compressing the piston back in, but it won't budge.
Does it need to be screwed in or something?
Help appreciated!

Did a search for this, didn't come up with anything. Schultz telling me to thread the piston back in rather than just pushing it in like the fronts...
You got it! The piston needs to be turned clockwise and pushed in simultaneously. You need either the proper tool or a pair of needlenose vice grips (other vice grips may work but it will be harder).
For the Integras, there is a tool to screw the piston back in. Probably a similar thing is needed, but I couldn't say for sure.
If you don't have the tool (like most of us), you can lay a flathead screwdriver down in the + pattern and use it to screw it inwards. It works.

I have a small crowbar that's pretty wide, fits the into the + pattern nicely and gives lots of torque. On the integra you don't have to push in, just screw it in...pushing will get you knowhere but frustrated, D and I almost knocked his car off jackstands trying to push the sucker in...

Now I know why I hang out with y'all !!!
Thanks to your advice (and Karl "Rice" Schultz's thru IM), I succeeded in getting those brake pads in... Panther Plus front and rear.
Once you do the first side of the car, the second is a breeze.
I wound up taking my hex key set and found that one of them fit in the groove perfectly. A specialty tool might save a minute or so, but this worked fine!
Just got back from bedding them in - about 10-12 runs of 70mph-20mph until I could smell 'em, then a 15 minute ride home without brakes to cool 'em.
Can't wait to get to the track and have some fun! See y'all there!
