Default ITR trunk bar?

recently my friend gave me an ITR trunk bar, i'm unfortunately still new at suspension mod, and I couldnt' find anything with the search....I was wondering where it mounts to and how it mounts? He said that i could prolly drill holes ... my concern is the where to drill and the size of the bolts used to mount that trunk bar...TIA

It would be much too hard to explain where it goes...hopefully someone has a pic that they can post for you. It should work, but you will need to notch the rear plastic trunk panel to install it.

It's not gonna work on a 4dr body, only on hatchbacks. Even on a non-TypeR DC2, you still have to drill out some holes and either notch the rear interior panel or get a DC2R one.

what the heck, I never saw a bar being mouned in that position. What's the official term for that bar, or do people just call it the ITR trunk bar?

Anyways, I'm guessing the bar's function is similar to a sway bar?

The official term is "Rear performance rod". Below is a diagram which indicates this. The rod actually adds rigidity to the rear body section. I have actually seen a picture of the Realtime Racing Integra with this rod installed, so it must actually make a difference.

That autopedia always comes in handy doesn't it?

I don't doubt that the bar or rod works and or adds chassis stiffness in the rear but, I don't really think that it will make much of a difference with the origional posters car,"no offense." The R in the diagram has multiple structure enhancements for added rigidity. The Ls is kind of like a willow in the wind in comparison. I can't see "Just" the rear performance rod adding anything noticeable for his car.

Strut tower bars, Antisway bars and a good Suspension Upgrade would be more noticeable and performance minded IMHO.

Free is free so I guess just take it but, then again why is your friend just "giving" you a Type-R performance goodie for Free?

A.

What are those 2 clips above the bar for? I've seen the tapped holes on mine and always wondered why there were there for?

thanks for all the positive feedback...i agree it prolly won't do much for my car, but a mods is a mod

Willard - thanks for the pic i think i understand a bit more now

1GreyTeg - it prolly won't do anything for the chasis of my car since it looks like the support points are different, i'll have to do a lil more research, as for the bar - my friend picked it up off a salvaged ITR from the junkyard for dirt cheap, but he sold his integra for a new project before he placed this on the car, he only found it recently cleaning out his stuff

The only one I know of is similar, but not the same. Benen Strong Bar, mounts to the spare tire area. I have seen another, but don't know who made it, some Taiwanese company.
