Ok, so the unthinkable happened about 20 minutes ago on my way home from Kennessaw.
I was on 285 southbound (on the westside) right near I-20. Cruising in the far left hand lane and over the median flies about 50 rocks (road pieces maybe?) varying in size from pebbles to about half the size of a text book.
My car appeared to be the only car that was really affected, and boy was it affected.
The damage is however limited to just the front bumper, the drivers side fender, the windshield, the hood, and the drivers side door.
The fender looks like it was sandblasted for a few seconds, the front bumper has the same in some areas. The hood just has lots of scratches. The windshield is spidered all the way across (there was glass inside the car), and the door has a few pebble sized spots where it is down to metal.
What is the best way to get this taken care of? Is anyone at fault? The city of Atlanta maybe for not cleaning up their construction mess?
I am also concerned that if the fender/bumper have to be replaced, the lack of matching VINs will lower the resale value of my car. How can I prove this to an insurance company (I've heard they are supposed to pay the loss in value as well).
Insurance company is Allstate. All info is welcome. Thanks.

Ok, I just got in contact with my insurance company.
I went ahead and filed a claim, because my deductable is only $100 (I forgot it was so low).
I have an appointment to have it inspected and from there they are going to write me a check on the value of the repairs needed.......so I can basically chose the shop I want to deal with, the parts I want to use, etc...
Did I do the right thing? I kept emphasizing the importance of the quality of workmanship needed to keep the value of this car.
JDM front if the price is right?

I would get about 3-5 quotes yourself before the Ins. company cuts a check. They don't really know what these things are really worth. After you get 3-5 good repair shop estimates go to the Ins company and come to an agreement. Hope that helps.

You should still see what a body shop is thinking of charging you. If you have those quotes and the adjuster comes out, let the adjuster make you an offer, if its alot more than your quotes take it, if not then show him the quotes.
Take it to Classic Collision in Buckhead. They are top notch. Only problem is that they might refused to work on your car. (They deal 99% with Jag, MB, BMW, Audi & Porsche). I wouldn't trust anyone in the metro ATL, unless its Classic.

Ok, after some very detailed inspection of the car by my eye, I have noticed a few things I did not notice before.
Here are a list of body panels that contain at least chips caused by this incident
1. Hood (major scratches, very deep)
2. Bumper (really bad, bad bad scratches, gouges even)
3. Front lip (chips, scratches)
4. Driver Fender (looks sandblasted)
5. Front windshield (shattered)
6. Driver's side window seal (plastic part)
7. Driver's side door (pebble size chips down to metal)
8. Driver's side rear quarter panel (2 or 3 pebble sized chips down to metal + one small slash down to metal)
9. Roof (same rock style chips as most other panels)
10. Driver's side headlight assembly (scratched, can feel by touch, not real visible)
11. Driver's side turn signal (same scratches as headlight)
Would it be wrong of me to DEMAND a complete repaint of the car? The car has over 100k miles on it, and I HONESTLY feel that I would not be satisfied with a blend job, and that matching the exact color (PY) would be nearly impossible to meet my satisfaction.

not too long ago i hit the neighbors dog which unfortunatly didnt die (its a mean dog, too aggressive). i was going exactly 20 mph and the dog jumped through the electric fence it had and hit my pass fender, dented it, rolled over my hood and up my windshield and hit the ground. the body shop (the expensive, quality shop in cincy) ended gettin me a new hood cuz it had too many dents to repair, and the fender repaired and painted....2200 bux. the hood alone cost 700.

As far as my eye can see, I don't think any of the panels will have to be replaced
They are scraped down to metal, but none are really dented. Crazy I know.

Except for the headlight assembly on the driver's side. It's scratched, and unlike body panels, they can't just sand that and paint it.

Ok, I just got home from visiting 2 body shops. Thanks Len for the suggestions, these guys were super quick and overly nice.
Quality Collision (Forest Park, GA) - $3,965.85
McDonald's Collision (Forest Park, GA) - $4,379.38
The main difference in price was due to the hood. It has some small dents/ripples in it and the one guy said it could be repaired and that the insurance would try to get by on that. However, I am going to insist that no filler be used in the repair of my car.
The guy at McDonald's didn't think that the hood should be repaired, he said it should be replaced without question.
Hopefully these prices are close to what Allstate will offer. B)

I'm waiting til I see Allstate on Monday to decide. If their price they give me is anywhere near this, JDM front it will be.
