im not sure what the name is but i wanna paint my ride a similar color...its off of a brand new expedition...that color looks so sick on EFs

what the top color going to be?

 

As in top what do you mean...
Finial color is gonna be what you see there...
Minus the carbon fiber sunroof panel (functional) is just gonna be re-cleared,
and i have a ViS CF SiR style hood (for USDM front) that is gonna get paint up to the body lines on the hood

The bodyshop doing it is New York Motorcar in Newark NJ.
Drop me a line if you want more info on them....they know thier stuff!!

 

so around how much does a paint job like that cost you? im looking for a new coat also.

Hehehehe lets just put it like this...
Rear fenders where rusted out...they fabbed new fenders out of raw sheet metal (inner and outer fender walls), also the front and rear rockers where rusted,

When i dropped the car off i gave them 3 grand...
plus another 2,500 i dropped off the other day...
maybe another grand more cuz im doing ALL new seals (weather seals and window seals)


but a cherry CRX to die for = Priceless

As with the paint,
Originally i wanted R81 Milano Red, then choices when from BMW Imola Red, Ferrari Red, Viper Red, even on the new Corvettes the Magnetic Red (which is also a Candy type paint)...
Owners of the bodyshop still bust my ***** for wanting a "plain red" lol.

But then again when you put this much money into a car why be ordinary.


Also another side note...

My car will be at Hot Import Nights in Atlantic City NJ...most likely that Saturday Ill be there...And keep a look out for all the other hot *** cars in Maxxd Out Auto Club

**** if they were gonna fab me new fenders i would have made em look like stock but about an inch wider...

 

Just the rusted area was fabbed...
Plus i dont wanna ***** with the clean lines of the car.

 

Not really feeling the color..

 

Thanks for the opinions...Car should be done with in the next week or so.

a buddy of mine just painted his candy tangerine. looks sick in the sunlight.

Can't Wait to See how it turns out.... KEEP US UPDATED!! BTW.. how much did that run for? How many clears?

 

Not sure how much the paint alone is...cuz there was ALOT of resto work...

Layers of paint are:
2 Light coats of primer
6 or 7 coats of Silver (Silver dosent cover for ****)
If i remember, bodyshop said like 4 or 5 coats of the Kandy Red
and about 6 or 7 coats of clear...

Sounds like alot but they are very light coats, with about 20 min of bake time between each at like 180 degrees.

 

Motor was dropped back in,
