I bought some McGard splines with wheel locks. They're guaranteed not to rust or chip, and (except for the locks, if you decide to buy the kit), the base remains stationary when you torque them down. Read the FAQ above for information about lug nut design and sizing.

Yeah, I bought the McGard SplineDrive kit in black chrome. I only have 4-lug hubs, but I opted for the 5-lug kit because I heard McGard charges 10-15 bucks for replacement lugs. I like how the lug nuts have the rotating seat (washer)...although, I noticed the washer still moves a little when tightening the lug nuts. Quality is great, I'm just scared of shops f'n them up...
Oh yeah..you want "tuner" lug nuts. Also known as Conical/Tapered.

While "Tuner" lug nuts are tapered, they are ALSO skinnier, so, yes, get tuner nutz.

i was talkin to some rota distributor about ordering some wheels... regarding chiipin of color near the holes where the lugs go.... by the way.. does this happen?... and is it due to the air gun or cause of lugs.. the store who i talked to told me make sure when i take the wheels to a shop.. tell them to not gun the lugs but torque them and get some of these mc gard lugs as they have a washer behind them so that it would not rub to the wall of the wheel..... just worried about chiipin of color on the wheels so.. please help
I'm not letting anyone near my wheels. Buy a torque wrench. Also, it might help to use a synthetic sealant like Klasse or Zaino on your wheels. I'm giving a new product called Poorboy's World Wheel Sealant a try. I did the Klasse AIO first, then several coats of Poorboy's. Wax is useless, because it will just melt away from the heat. I can't say for sure if this will prevent chipping, but it can't hurt. Besides, brake dust will wash away much easier if you do.
Definately do not let the tire shop use air tools. Almost every type of tuner lugs I can think of say right on their packaging not to because they will break. Even forged lugs like Zenki should not be used with air tools.
I've had multiple sets of Rotas and never had a problem with the color chipping.
I'm currently using Muteki lugs on my Torques.

Do you mean a torque wrench? If so, thats ok because you can set it for a certain amount but air tools =

Nah... torque sticks are these extensions that you put on impact wrenches for tightening lug nuts...
