Default Proposed b18 build... comments please

Have a JDM b18c, and am planning on putting on the b16a1 head as i hear it flows better than the b18c one. To bump up compression im thinking of using itr pistons and possibly a thinner head gasket, as this seems to be the cheapest way to buy compression.

Im able to get itr valve springs and retainers, and am thinking of using them with skunk stage 2 cams, i recon this should let me rev safely to 8700-ish rpm?

Any one who has done a similar set up would be great to hear from u, see some results.

Any comments welcome

Keep your gsr head, you will loose compression changing to a b16a head. Install jdm itr pistons and new rings, that should put you at 11.6-1 compression. Invest in a single runner intake manifold from skunk2, blox or aebs. Forget the itr springs and retainers, they are not reccomended with a stage 2 cam and willmost likely bind at high rpm. Invest in the omnipower springs and retainers or rockets 2nd gen springs and retainers. That will allow you to safely rev to 9500. Stage 2 cams and the setup I reccomended with the proper tuning should get you around 200whp properly tuned.

thanks for that.. Im on a bit of a budget and can get type R parts relatively cheaply thats why i was keen on the itr springs/retainers but may have to rethink that.

If i change to a stage 1 cam the itr spring/retianers should cope aye?

I have a b16a head in garage so pretty keen to use it then i'l use b16a2 intake manifold which i also have and it'l be flowing better, hoping compression doesnt drop too much (i know larger combustion cambers of b16 head drop it a little).

Would prefer the s2s2 cams but sounds like they'l need alot more money spent on valve train to get them going reliably

Ive been told by a mechanic that with b16a head on b18c block with skunk cams im guna have valve to piston clearance issues using itr pistons..

If i was to use the b16a head, what sort of set up would be best for max power?

thanks

I wouldn't use OEM springs with S2S2.

those omnipower springs look good value so ill prob get those along with the s2s2 cams.

would hav liked to have used my b16a head but will prob settle with the b18c head and upgrade intake manifold to get it all flowin better
