Default Necessary pre-welding in car precautions?

My uncle, who does some welding on his spec Ford racer, has offered to weld shut the drill holes that I have left in my tub after removing my 4 point, Sparco buckets, and harnesses, all of which were welded through the floor.
Do we need to remove the ECU, alternator, or anything else before striking a weld on the tub? My uncle seemed slightly concerned about the charges involved and possibly frying some electronics?

Any input/experience would be greatly appreciated....

Jon

Unplug and remove the ECU. Keep a fire extinguisher nearby and cover any cloth near the welding site. That's what my guy who did my cage did and he's a pro.
