Default Clipped a stone wall

I just had a killer post but it got ******* erased because I forgot to put a ******* title in. It had laughs, tragedy and everything else that makes a good post. Great. So you're getting the short version with some google images bitches.

I realize that this all was totally my fault and there are about 20 things that I could have done differently to prevent all of this. The fact is I dropped the ball and it's no one's fault but my own. I fucked up bad.

I was riding rt218 which is a pretty ******* wild road with some great views:

I was heading south(towards the camera) which puts this cliff wall just to the right of your shoulder:

It was about 2:30pm after a night of drinking and I hadn't eaten or drank any fluids all day. All of this while I rode around like a madman in 90 degree weather with full gear on. Smart.

I'm heading south with that great rock wall about a foot from me on the right. My brain totally freezes up and turns to jello. I totally blank out and loose concentration.

I snap out of it to see my least favorite corner in the entire world.
I'm flying towards it faster then I ever have with a rocket between my legs, full steam ahead baby.

Blind right hander, you need to keep your head tucked in so that rock that sticks out of the cliff doesn't take it off then flick it back left. Oh did I mention it's a bit downhill once you turn it in? Yeah, worst corner ever.

I quickly realize I need to use the oncoming lane and try to straighten the corner out as much as I can. I get on the brakes as hard, come round the corner, no oncoming traffic, score.

Then this evil little stone wall enters my mind. It wants to swallow my bike and spit me over into the river. Its mind ******* me and winning badly:

Cross the double yellow, slowing, slowing, rock wall
.
.
.
TARGET FIXATE
.
.
.
Look where I want to go, flick it right, Smash!

The bike wobbles and my foot feels like it was hit with a sledge right on the toes, keep it on two and straighten back into my lane. I pull off into the West Point gate a few hundred feet down the road. Holy ****.

Damage report was a smashed up boot, small chip on the front wheel, scratched engine cover, 3 small scratches right under it on the fairing, bent shifter. I thought the whole left side of the bike was toast.

Boot:

The only thing I can think of was that I turned it in before the wall and as I was starting to turn the front must have counter steered into the wall followed by my engine cover, boot then shifter. I think if I was vertical I would have taken out my rotor, fairing, leg or something important.

If I turned it in a millisecond earlier I would have come out fine and one later I'd be one smashed up ******. I learned a huge lesson and I know this will effect me every time I go riding from now on. Luck was on my side I guess...

I'll get some pictures of the bike a little later today or sometime tomorrow.

The tingle feeling was there a good 10 hours later when I started drinking to drown my sorrows

In all seriousness, it's good you're alright and nothing worse happened.

Lemme get this straight, you turned into a blind, downhill right. Overshot it and the immediate left turn had you hitting the rock on the left side? I would've pee'd myself. Glad to hear that your relatively alright. At least you live to ride another day. And where's those airfences when you need them?

You heard it right here folks. Save the craziness for the tracks.

Sounds pretty crazy. Slow it down on the streets until you're really comfortable with the roads. At least you werent wearing sneakers or something. That road really looks narrow.

The thing is I've been down this road about 50 times before. I just blanked out and lost track of where I was.

I was riding like a jackass though and this just proved once again the street is not the place for that kind of ****.

And to think, I was just thinking to myself "I don't need to wear my race boots everywhere."

Yeah. Right.

So if you're selling your bike and someone asks.. "Was the bike ever dropped?" I guess you can say, "Nope."

I'm sure it looked similar to that and it was very close to having that as an end result.
