seized crank bolt?
i'm trying to get my crank/pulley bolt off to change the belts and i cannot get it off! i have the car on jackstands, with a friend pushing down the brakes in 5th gear, and the rotors don't spin when i try getting it off. i've tried breaker bars and bent/broke 3 wrenches so far (all cranftsman). is this thing seized on ther or what!? i have a friend at honda that is going to get hondas pulley holding tool, but it will be a couple days before he can get it. i don't have any air tools
, so is there any other secrets you guys have to getting this thing off? thanks

Stop breaking tools & just wait until you get the Honda tool. Sometimes it's the only way to break that bolt loose. I've had times where my impact gun (not a weak piece of crap either) could not loosen up the bolt; but the honda tool, a breaker bar, and a torque wrench never fail.
i bought the honda pulley holder tool also, i used wd40 the two nights prior to trying to break it loose. I had to jump on my 1/2 inch break over bar. But my engine was in the garage at the time. In the car is a different story. Good luck
If you have the motor out can you still use a breaker bar? Im actually about to do this myself but how do I keep the crank from turning? Jab a screwdriver in the tranny? haha or is the honda took the only way to go?

i think the easiest way is have someone hold the flywheel with a big flathead screwdriver or something of that sort through the access hole on the bell housing and use a very strong 1/2 inch impact like an ingersol rand titanium which can put out hella reverse torque..... but the other times ive done it i used a chain wrench around the crank puley itself to hold it and wedge the chain wrench handle against the lower control arm and get like a 3ft breaker bar and cheater pipe but be careful with that chain wrench cuz t will bite into the grooves of the pulley and screw them up if your not careful but i did that cuz i didnt have anything else.
If it was me and I didn't have access to air tools,
I would take it to a shop, have them break it loose for you
and then have them barely tighten it up (30-40 ft lbs).
Then drive it home slowly and break it loose yourself

yea i agree but id prolly just get it towed back for safety cuz if that thing comes off theres no telling what could happen. by the way a new crank pulley from hodna is like 80 bucks i believe cuz i had to get one after i screwed up the grooves on it with the chain wrench.
the bolt is put on at around 180ft lbs you can use a breaker bar or a 3/4 in rachet with a long pipe as a handle, keep trying it will come off sooner or later. when to put it back on put a small amount of grease on the bolt threads so it will be easier to get off next time.
Undo the cover for the flywheel, jam a screwdriver in there to keep the motor from spinning.
Get a good 1/2" socket and long *** extension. Get a 6' (foot) breaker bar and you can have the bolt undone in a matter of minutes.

all you gotta do is put a screwdriver through the access hole and have someone hold it against the bellhousing with the tip inbetween the teeth on the flywheel... really makes a difference cuz you wont lose so much torque tryin to spin everything along with the crank bolt.
