Default Question about temperature control

I have a 1989 Integra and the temperatur econtrol stopped working. I saw on her e before that there is a small wire that attaches to the temperature control sliding switch and sometimes it comes off. I checked and sure enough that was the problem. But how to get the wire back on. I tried and tried and could not do it. The guy at he repair shop tells me I have to take the whole temp. control unit out. HArd to believe!. ANyway, does anyone out there have any ideas of how to connect this?

Thanks
