Is this idea too crazy, or would it work?
I bought a 1991 accord 4 door a couple weeks ago as my new project car. The car had damage to the rear window frame due to a giant rock, so I got the car for extremely cheap, and I was able to fix the problem for even cheaper. I know have a running, fully functional car that is my blank slate for pretty much whatever I want to do.
My brother came up with the idea of somewhat converting it from 4 door to 2 door. We would achieve this by permantly closing the rear door, shaving the handles, molding, and seems, and then using seats off of a 2 door so that the rear seat is still accessible. Upon further investigation on just how we were going to do this, we decided to instead turn the back seat into an area for subs/amps/tvs/etc.. I believe that I can tint the rear windows as dark as I like here in Illinois, so i plan to use limo tint on the back so that no one can see what I have, and use not as dark tint on the front windows. My intentions are to make this vehicle the ultimate audio/video vehicle. We have drawn up designs so that the front seats will recline, and you will be almost surrounded by subwoofers and speakers, and you will be looking dead ahead at a monitor.
The only problems that I can forsee are being able to seal the door completely so that the sound pressure from the subwoofers and normal vibrations of the car would not move the rear doors, and break the seals where it should be shaved smooth. I believe that if I remove the door locks from the doors, and secure the doors with bolts, and then weld it in certain areas that it will hold nicely.
I have never seen anything like this before, but if someone has seen it done, please enlighten me with some details. If this has never been done, please give my brother and I some credit, and let us be the first ones to complete it.
Any comments are greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Adam

Sounds like a really wild project, and I always encourage creativity, so go for it.
What I might suggest is leave the existing hinging and door latchs in place,
align the doors flush with the outside, and weld the doors shut from the inside.
The success (or failure) of this idea will be when you pull off both the door and rear quarter interior panels to inspect the orientation of both the door and chassis inner body panels and how they can be attached together.
There are many ways you can blend the outside

hell yeah man! i love hearin abotu somebody who's gonna do somethin crazy like this.
i woudl think as long as you welded the doors good, and grinded down the welds so they are smooth..that it woudlnt be a problem at all. i defiently woudlnt do it if i had never done any fabricating or welding b4.
but i say go for it man. and when ya get it done, show it off!

There was a dude around here that had a 4 door Civic, and did what you're thinking, and welded the back doors shut and shaved the handles, and it was pretty cool lookin...
It's definitely possible... Go for it...

now i just gotta learn to weld. lol. I pretty much got the bondo work down, so I'm shaving the side molding, and antenna right now, and I gotta call some people to see if i can get ahold of a welder to get the work done. Fiberglassing the inside shouldn't bee too hard either. but its a toos up between doing this or getting my engine swapped. gotta think about it a bit.
