Default dc 4-2-1 headers vs. comptech 4-2-1 headers

whats up guys i have a 98 gsr and i want to put some headers on it. i have researched these two products and have chosen the two cause they are the cheapest of the majority of headers out there. i just want to get some input as to what you guys think would be a better choice for more bolt on power. my setup is only going to be i/h/e and thats it. any advice would be much appreciated.
thanks guys,
Sevak

Can't get MIG anymore IIRC.

I wanted a header for daily driving so I went with the 2.25 comptech. This way I gain a little down low, instead of only in the high rpm range. if your going for the most HP, get the DC JDM 4-1.

Mmmmm tig welds...

I got the DC 4-1 headers. The smoother flow at top end is well worth the money spent. Plus I got it new for $200.

Old news.. but this test has some good information in comparing the two. Although, this is on an ITR but you'll get the idea.

Well that makes Mugen, Jun, & Spoon look like crap. Seems like you'd want the DC for best HP/$ or Toda for best HP! I'd only go Comptech if it has way better clearance!

Better clearence for the comptech? Has anyone had issues? I've yet to have any problems with my comptech header, running on H&R Sports/KYB AGX's.

I've got a 4-2-1 SS Comptech header for my B18c1. Great clearance. No issues with scraping at all. It actually sits as high or might even be a bit higher than the oil pan beccause of how its made. The good is that you get good torque down low, but get robbed on top end power. I had a normal DC 4-1 with a huge dent in it. It still pulled harder up top than my Comptech. It just depends what you want to use it for. I daily more often, so I went with Comptech

I have a Comptech 4-2-1 and the collector is 2.0" not 2.25". IIRC there are no mass produced header for our car that has a 2.25: collector. They're either 2.0" or 2.5".

The collector on the DC is 2.0"

It all depends what your looking for... most HP get the dc, more hp down low, get the comptech. I don't know anything about the skunk2

my DC 4-2-1 ceramic cracked where the 1 and 4 cylinder primaries meet

replaced it w/ a comptech TIG header, so far so good. no signs of stress or cracks anywhere. any difference in power would be negligible. i noticed the comptech extends out closer to the radiator though. you just gotta play w/ it a little when you install it.

but seriously, now that i think about it.. there are better things to spend $300-400 on than a bolt-on header. ITR cams are the first things to come to mind.

if you still need to have one of these, i'd go w/ the comptech just for the better quality welds alone. although i got a friend who's had a DC stainless 4-2-1 since 1999 and it's still perfect. go figure
