ok here is my problem, i have a 95 accord, intake header, high flow cat, cat back exhaust, after my car sits it takes about 5 or 6 times to turn over before itstarts, it only has about 130000 on it. please help i took to a place and they checked the battery and alternator, its ok they said. after i drive it and turn off, then restart itstarts right up no problem please help i dont want it to leave me stranded anywhere. thanks for your help.... anyhting is appreciated.
Is it that it will not crank over (like the starter took a sabbatical) or that it will crank over but not start?
If it is the latter, I would suggest disconnecting the air inlet ducting to the Throttlebody and spray carb cleaner into the throttlebody. If it attempts to start at that point, it indicates you have no fuel delivery.
If this occures on particularly hot days, I would suspect the Main Relay. I will borrow from on of my prior posts
"If this primarily happens during very hot weather, you may be the victim of the dreaded Main Relay attack. Basically, the relay solder joints crack over age and when warm breaks connection; and when it cools off at the end of the day reconnects and the car will start.
There are several avenues of thought on this:
1) Break down and buy a new relay
2) take it out and resolder the board"
The failure primarily occures when the vehicle is allowed to "Hot Soak" for several hours in the hot sun whereby the interior temp really gets up there. The vehicle will grank without problem but will not start. Traditionally, you'll get so cranked off over this that you leave in total frustration until several hours later; where you either have to
1) get it out of the Bosses parking lot and go home or
2) get it off the street for the evening.
The real kicker about it all is; when you try it, the car starts as though nothing was wrong. (and you start to question how many beers you had)
If there arn't three threads going a week about this topic, it's a slow week.
Just a thought considering how hot it's been
