Yellows make weird noise when holding upside down
I just bought new koni yellows, and I'm still waiting for my ground control coilovers. HEres the problem, I flipped one of the front shocks upside down and it sounds like something inside is sliding down, then when I hold them upright, something slides back down,(internally). It didn't do this before, could it of been when I was compressing them upside down, cause i read to check them if theres bubbles in the shock by compressing them down, but by holding it upside down, (rod shaft facing down)
Thanks.
Thanks.
Congratulations, if you didn't have air in your inner cylinder before then you almost certainly do now. If you feel a dead spot at the top of your stroke (air pocket in the inner cylinder), compress it upside down and then when holding it fully compressed, turn it right side up (rod facing up) and let it extend. Any time the shock is extending and it is upsdie down or layed flat then air will migrate from the outer to the inner cylinder.
Most likely it is the internal rebound stop/ droop limiter that you are hearing sliding back and forth as it is a 4+ inch tube of delrin that sits loosely on the piston rod between the top of the piston and the bottom of the guide and will be loose until the shock is fully extended and it is held in compression between the two. I can't say as I have ever heard one move but I also can't say that I have ever tried to listen to one either. Nothing to worry about.

So nothing is loose inside then? It sure sounds like something is moving around when I hold it upside down.
I just did that thing you said, compress it upside down, and then let it rebound right side up. Still does the same noise?
I dunno man. As long as it doesn't make noise while I'm driving and doesn't alter the performance of it.
