Default POST WHAT YOU KNOW: Valves, your experiences...

Okay help me out here guys... Ive been aquiring alot of new parts recently to rebuild my head on my GSR. So far Ive got: Gaskets for EVERYTHING, New ITR LMA's, New Valve seals, New Timing Belt, and all fluids. On my car I already have installed the ITR cams/Valvesprings and Adj. Cam Gears. I need to buy some new valves(mine are slightly... shall we say "tweaked") and I dont have any first hand knowledge on them... I will post what I know here from research Ive done the last few months.

1. Flat faced valves could be better for N/A because of a .3 cr bump.
2. Oem/Omnipower/??? wont snap off in the engine like most aftermarket hardened ones because they are a diff alloy.
3. Inconel is desired, like the OEM valves have, because of Better High-Heat protection and smoothness... or a nitride coating of some sort.
4. All valves use OEM valve keepers.
5. Undercut stems improve flow by a small amount (cuz its thinner).

So which brands are KNOWN to bee good. I mean they all LOOK good... REV/Supertech/Crower/Toda/OEM ITR/Portflow/Manley/Skunk2/Omnipower...etc

Which ones really are the **** and why? I am looking for some REAL facts before I go drop this cash on them right now. Ive been workin my *** off on getting my car runnin like a champ... As soon as I pick up a set of these my head is off to Alaniz Technologies for a Stage1 and an Assembly/Rebuild.

Also... I was thinking of using my stock retainers. Im not going to be revving past ~8800 ever and I dont want to worry about Ti ones breaking/wearing down. How many of you with these have had them for more than a year or two without any issues?

Thanks

Nice to hear that OEM is holding up well under boost and in built motors.

Bump.

I used modified GSRs in my build with skunk2 valve springs and stock retainers (9k and no problems). I personally think ferreas are the best out there, but then again, they cost more too.

What do you mean by modified exactly, please elaborate.

I am hearing more and more about stock valves. Im sure for N/A they are cool, and alot of people boost on them... but for long term boost or "maybe" even a lil squeeeeze wouldnt something aftermarket be better?

Thanks for the input... keep it coming Honda-Tech, thou art my mentor...

I believe RLZ uses OEM ITR valves in a lot of the heads they do. If they're using them then that's saying a lot.
