Default 99 cbr overheated

I was driving downtown today when I parked and noticed the fluorescent green coolant dripping out and the temp gauge at the max. I let the bike cool down for a while then got on the highway and went to my mechanic's garage. I had no toruble at all on the way and when I got there the bike was no longer leaking. In fact the bike was perfectly fine.

Its obvious that it overheated driving slowly in downtown traffic but what do you think the problem is? Is this common for this bike?

It should not happen unless you are doing rev limiter burnouts....

Did you notice if the radiator fan came on or not? You could have some sort of electrical problem, or the thermostat switch is not turning the fan on when it is supposed to. Sounds like that could be the problem as it was happing in sitting traffic instead of open highway cruising.

I am sure your mechanic should be able to diagnose and repair the problem.

Thanks dude. I didn't notice if the fan came on or not. I'll have to do some more testing I think then bring it to the mechanic.

Wow way to be productive and help the situation out. It is probably best for all riders even new ones to buy a new bike because they could have an issue with a used one right?????? Maybe everyone should just start out with a new busa....

So did you get this overheating issue resolved?

Steven
